1st December 2005 - ancient and modern

We’re once again in the bosom of our friends and loved ones!

To save me from another faceless hotel tonight then a journey down to Cornwall tomorrow and another one back the same day for the footie, we thrust ourselves on DMs family again and asked if we could stay another day and arrive tonight so I didn’t need another night in an hotel and DM travelled up-country with R&A today so I could
meet him (and my babies) here in sunny (not) Berkshire.

His folks are pretty close to celestial beings as far as I’m concerned – they didn’t bat an eyelid (at least as far as I know) to us coming. Not only that but they cooked supper for us even though they are out themselves tonight. Yum Yum Yum – it didn’t go unnoticed that the meal was a recipe that I’d said we love from a mutually shared recipe book.

We were ecstatic and ‘loved up’ while we pranced around enjoying one-another’s company after a week apart, especially with no one watching. I lay in the bath naked, happy in the knowledge that with the folks out that I could lay there with no danger of embarrassment, even though the door was open to save the dogs from worry that I'd been eaten by the bathroom. I have been so terrified of losing DM through my misery recently, but tonight I’m sure I have not yet done that (the look on his face says he's still mine) and I have only a couple of weeks to go until I can be sure I will survive that terror.

I heated up the meal they’d left for us and it was just being dished up onto the plate when the doorbell rang. It can’t be for us we thought…..oh yes, it can!!!! It was DMs brother-in-law bringing material to photograph for his website that David is developing at the moment. He had supper with us and a good old chat though he probably left here with the impression that we drink too much (which of course we do) and not a terribly great feeling that we’re going to be good for his business.

He brought us some props to use for the pics and these old bottles were among them.

I don’t know why but the juxtaposition with the stella bottle made me chuckle……sad as I am.

Last year, I was trying really hard to suspend my 'bah humbug' attitude to Christmas....and by and large succeeding, though this year is another matter entirely!!!!

I'm trying to imagine what was in these interesting bottles. Looks like the one contained EffervescentPyretic Salve??? I love old bottles and the mystery to them.

Lovely contrast of bottles... I wonder what this 'film' thing is that the stella bottle refers to, lol
