A slab of clay is placed under the pressure plate and a plaster mold is placed on the clay. The lever is used
to force the plaster mold down into the clay, filling the mold cavities. In the process, some clay oozes out
from under the plaster mold. This is trimmed flush with the sides of the mold, using a fettling knife.
After a brief wait while subsequent pieces are pressed, the plaster mold is removed. The edges may then
be worked lightly to create a bevel on the visble edge of the tile. The tile then is allowed to air dry.
