Rod, that is exactly what I was thinking (and crediting you for) when I was posting the shot. I think the staticity comes from the fact that no arms are visable. I would have preferred greatly if he had held the umbrella in his left hand with a nice bent arm, but when doing drive by street shots you've got to take what you can get! LOL! As it was, it was a mob scene there and just isolating subjects was hard enough. I kept losing great shots b/c of others passing by in the opposite direction, traffic lights changing making hubby have to drive away, or people hording onto street corners just as I would be framing up my singles and pairs waiting to cross. I was happy as a clam just to have the rain! I LOVE LOVE LOVE shooting in the rain and I'd not got to do it at night before, nor in Manhattan before, so this was a big-time thrill. :)
It's great that you're getting shots that you like, as it's more important than praise from other people. The shot seems a tad static for me I don't know why, maybe the bloke is too well lit for me to pick up a dynamic. This looks like a flash shot.
