Take one down
Day 171

I finished tiling the hearth / mantel today.
Yet another one of those 'never-ending projects' I have kept putting off, on a list of things to do that never seems to get shorter.
There wasn't a whole lot left to do, but it ended up taking a little longer than I expected.

Here's a "before" shot: http://www.pbase.com/image/35483801
(I had already done some work by this point)

And here's Beau, guarding the pattern to make sure no one messes it up before it goes on: http://www.pbase.com/corvidae/image/35483807
(as you can see, "clean up the dishes" is still on that list of things to do!!)

Next I have to grout everything, and make the wooden ledge that will sit on top.

Eventually.

Wow, you are so talented! I remeber that shelf project you were doing a month or two ago. This is quite a lovely living area - very warm, and comfortable.

I am so impressed. Is there anything you can't do? This is so inviting and so lovely.

You are so talented. I salute what you have done here. Just love the tones in those tiles & the way the sun is pouring in through your windows. If we had that much Australian sun coming in the house all our furnishings would have the same whiteout appearance from bleaching.
