Punta del Este, South America's ritziest resort. I thought it was crap. It is a bit like the Gold Coast in Australia, though with second rate beaches. It has flash (overpriced) restaurants, shops, hotels and apartments, and it is full of Argentine people with more money than common sense. I stayed in a really poor HI youth hostel in a dorm room with 13 others. I was glad to get out of here the next day, though I was a little disappointed that I didn't get up the coast a bit to see Playa Montoya and Playa Bikini, where they apparently film FTV Beach (Fashion TV Beach).
