"Joshua Drew"
I just received my Alien Bees studio lights yesterday, and this is the result of my first efforts! I am very happy with this shot and look forward to doing more with the lights. This shot was accomplished with one strobe on 1/2 power, shot through a Brolley softbox, and a reflector to the dark side...

This shot won POTD at www.digitalphotocontest.com for the People/Portrait category on October 1, 2003.

Very interesting read, the way you placed your equipment to take this picture. It seems like I should go for a softbox anytime soon.

Those Alien Bees lights sound very affordable for us hobbiests. Please do keep us posted on how you continue to like them. Is this your son? He looks just like you. In the "before" picture, that is. :)

Thanks Steve,
I am very happy with the Alien Bees products, although I have only had them for a couple of days. Lots of people recommended them... They are fairly inexpensive compared to other lighting products, and they work great! I think you can get a light, a 48" umbrella, a 10' stand, and a carry bag for about $300. Based upon my limited exposure to them, I would recommend them!

Thanks again, Patrick, for the encouragement! If there were a PBase award for offering the most comments and encouragement, you would get my vote!
