The Fountain of the Royal Galleys was built in 1735 under the command of Don Tomás de Idiaquez, Captain General of the Ocean Sea. It underwent its first renovation more than 100 years later, in 1842, giving it its current configuration.
It is a low-rise building covered with a barrel vault and two small domes at the ends. On the side opposite the river rises the main facade, which has a stone finial in the center of the parapet that borders the roof.
