I was looking forward to visiting this town, made famous in 1977 by a Waylon Jennings song of the same name.
There isn't much here now but a lot of history and interesting stories. This building was built in 1850 as a Post Office and General store with a beer joint in the rear.
It is now a souvenir shop but there is still a bar in the back and outside there is a bandstand where they have live music on the weekends. There were quite a few people enjoying the music on the Sunday I was there.
The original dance hall is still there as well. It's a step back in time so a fun place.
We were disappointed that the little trailer selling wine-flavored ice cream wasn't open.
