tongues 2.jpg

In 1965 the U.S. Federal gvt. financed a scientific study into speaking in tongues at the Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York by Dr.'s John Kildahl and Paul A. Qualben. After taking Glossolalia on tape, they called in neo-Pentecostal so called interpreters from different locations. The report said: "There was no similarity in the interpretations. One interpreter said the tongue speaker was praying for the health of his children; the other would report the same speech to be an expression of gratitude to God for a recent successful church fund-raising effort.
This has to be Satan the wolf in sheep clothing. God here apparently did not allow the fallen foe to interfere and synchronize the two interpreters. Praise the Lord!!!
The burning question remains, why doesn't our gvt. protect its people from these delusions? But God says that this delusion is only for certain people, see 2.Thess2:9 and is directly linked to 1.Timothy 4:1-4--monks, nuns, priests, bishops, cardinals and popes are not permitted to marry and have to abstain from meat on Fridays.
If speaking in an unknown tongue means that you have the spirit then John the Baptist missed the boat because he did not speak in tongues. Neither did he raise the dead or heal the sick, which are all signs that Charismatic Christians look for to determine whether or not one has the spirit! However, the scripture states that John was filled with the spirit from his mother’s womb although he did not perform these acts! Are we missing something?
Luke 1:15 for he will be great before the Lord, and he shall drink no wine nor strong drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb.

1Corinthians 14:15-17 What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. 14:16 Else when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say, "so be it," at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest? 14:17 For thou verily givest thanks well, but the other is not edified.
Paul says in verse 16 and 17 “Else when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say, amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest? 14:17 For thou verily givest thanks well, but the other is not edified”. Self-explanatory isn’t it? Paul is simply reiterating what he has been saying all along. If one prays in tongues (another language), how can one say he agrees seeing that he does not understand the tongue or language you have just spoken? If you speak English and someone asks to pray over the food you are about to eat and he prays in Latin and says “Father Satan bless this food that we are about to receive and give me the strength to assist you in damming mankind through the doctrine that you have created for your servants to spread over the world… amen”. Why would you say amen to this prayer when you do not know what he said.
We once visited another assembly and went to break bread with them and we all bowed our heads to bless the food, and the Elder of the assembly commenced to bless the food in another language (tongue), we immediately held our heads back up until he finished. Why? Because we did not know the tongue, so we could not say amen to that prayer. He may have been edified but we were not! This is exactly what Paul is talking about. Paul is continuing to speak about a foreign language that is understood by them who speaks the language. Again, what we find in Christendom is the total opposite of what the scriptures are saying. But let’s continue.
Since Acts 2:4-11 teaches that when men spoke in tongues (i.e., "as the Spirit gave the utterance"), they spoke actual, understandable human languages, why believe that any other cases of tongue speaking were in languages which could not be understood (e.g., Acts 10:46, 19:6, 1 Cor. 12-14)?

The relationship with Perfection and Maturity------2 Timothy 3:10 But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,
11: Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me.
12: Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
13: But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
14: But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
15: And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16: All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
I continue to find scripture that upholds that the "PERFECT" has come
I hope you still have my chapter on " That which is perfect comes ". It has alot to do with the word ( perfect).
I love this stuff. 2 Tim 10 ------------- Thou hast fully known my doctrine.
Now take in account 1 Cor 13:10-12: But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
11: When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
12: For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
Now 2 Timothy 3:17: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
**********, AGAIN after Paul writes to the church of Corinth about tongues ceasing when the perfect comes, he writes to Timothy about being FULLY furnished unto all good works so that HE MAY BE PERFECT. Here is the MORE EXCELLANT WAY that man may be perfect !!!! By being thoroghly furnished. By being fully furnished.............when? HOW? By being giving the complete and throughly furnished Word of God. Ephesians 4:14: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
15: But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
Now look **********... in Eph 4:15 Here we are told that with our Word of God ( completed ) that we may have all that we need to fight the craftiness of mankind and his doctrines to decieve us so that what *******........ So that we may GROW UP in Christian maturity. Where does it speak of Christian maturity?..... 1 Corinthians 13:11: When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
If we didnt have the complete bible, then we wouldnt be throughly furnished to fight mans doctrines and we would remain inmature in Christ.
Now I dont know how much more simpler in can be made. Mankind has a better way to grow toward Christian maturity 1Cor 12:30-31 THAN TONGUE SPEAKING. If you want to deny scripture, than thats your business. If you want to make up stuff like "Mary spoke in tongues so I will too" than so be it. You are doing it to your own demise. Regardless, you still have yet to tell me which kind of tongues you want to adhere to and affectly Im left trying to figure out which rules about tongues you adhere to. Do you believe in tongues that propigate the gospel , or those tongues that are mysterious heavenly languages that man prays to God. Do you do both?
Remember when I asked you to study on "ANOTHER COMFORTER". It was the Holy Ghost, it was the power of the Holy Ghost giving only to the apostles. You will be suprised at what you can find in the bible that gives indications that apostalic gifts were not for everyone BEYOND the clear scripture giving to us ( 1Cor:12:30) . I also asked you if you were going to cling to the tongues for propigating the bible verses or the prayers in a mysterious tongue verse. Ive seen you defend your tongue speaking beliefs by jumping from one type of tongue to the other. Either its one, the other or both. I dont blame you for getting things out of wack. I can honestly see why so many have misinterpretted the tongues age. But thats ok. If your "knowing" that tongues has drawn you closer to God and you see "profit" for withal by doing it ... then fire away. Whatever you do in your course of learning anything about the bible, never attach preconcieved ideas, beliefs, training or church doctrine with what you read or hear. And one biggy that is of major rule in understanding scripture... Let the simple verses shed light on the hard to understand verses and never the other way around.
If you read over 1 Corinths 12,13,14 you will see that church had abused a gift set for that time. This is exactly what is going on today. There is a more excellant way. Wow, even with all these amazing gifts that were being used and misused; Paul said there is a more excellant way.
1 Corinth 12.28: And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.
29: Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?
30: Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?
31: But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.
Covet the best gifts ( not tongues ) and YET THERE IS STILL A MORE EXCELLANT WAY.
This is a little something from a pastor friend of many years whom I correspond with online.
He lives in Forest Hill NC.
The Holy Spirit was promised to the Apostles... Nowhere is the Comforter promised to anyone else.

Joh 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
The Comforter was to abide with them forever. Them being the apostles... This was not promised to Christians in general.
Joh 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
The Comforter was to teach them all things... What ever was needed for man's salvation and the church would be revealed by the Comforter to the apostles... who in turn taught others.
The Comforter would cause them to remember everything that Jesus taught. This one is the clincher for proving that no one today has received the Holy Spirit in the same way the apostles did. No one today remembers everything Jesus taught.
Joh 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:
The Comforter would testify of Jesus... Today those who claim to have the Holy Spirit testify of the Spirit, not Jesus.
After His resurrection, Jesus told the apostles to go to Jerusalem and wait to receive the Holy Ghost or "power from on high.
Listen; Before the bible was complete, mankind had the apostles who taught with power from "Another Comforter/ Holy Spirit/miracles to confirm ). When the bible was completed mankind was taught ( pay attention here ) .............when the bible was was to be taught FROM THE BIBLE !!!!

Luke 24:45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, 46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: 47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48 And ye are witnesses of these things. 49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
God Bless,
This happened In Acts 2:1-4.
Only the 12 apostles received this power from on high.
From this time on, the apostles imparted spiritual gifts by the laying on of their hands. The first time is in Acts 6.

Acts 6:6-8, 6 Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them. 7 And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith. 8 ¶ And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.
The next time it is in Samaria.
Acts 8:14, 14 ¶ Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: 15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: 16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) 17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. 18 And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,
And that is enough to establish the pattern. Paul laid hands on folks everywhere he went. Why? Since they didn't yet have a written Bible, they needed other spiritual guidance and help.----------------- end
-----Now there are some Charismatics who claim that tongues and prophecy will restart again since we are in the " Last Days" now. Lets tackle this one.....
Acts 2:17-20. This is a very
misused area of scripture. Please before you think God has sent us back to 33-100AD please read
this concerning when the last days began...
Consider 3 Old Testament passages along with Acts 2.

Isa. 2:2-3 Tells us Where the last days will have its beginning and what
will accompany that beginning.
Dan. 2:36-45 (especially 44-45) Tells us When this will occur
Joel 2:28-32 Tells us HOW DO YOU KNOW this is the beginning of the last
days. Acts 2 Shows us the fulfillment of these prophecies. Let's put these
together: Isaiah foretells that the kingdom (the church) would begin in Jerusalem
and radiate out from there. Where were the Apostles when the day of
Pentacost of Acts 2 occurred (verse 5)? Jerusalem Daniel fortells when the kingdom would begin; in the days of "these
kings" - the 4th kingdom from the time of Daniel's writing (Babylonian, Persian, Greek, Roman). What was the ruling empire of the 1st Century?

Joel Foretells the signs that would accompany the beginning of the
kingdom. When the people questioned how the apostles could speak in
languages that they had not learned (note: these were languages spoken in
the world of that time not some "angellic language" as some claim); Peter
standing up with the 11 explained it to them. He says, "This is that
which was spoken by the prophet Joel..." We might ask, "what is THAT?"
The answer, "THIS - them speaking in languages they had not previous
studied along with the sound as of a mighty rushing wind verse 2 and the
cloven tongues as of fire verse 3. I would not, nor would I attempt to,
try to give specifics for all the signs Joel foretold. We can read of
the use of the spiritual gifts in the Book of Acts.

The fact is that the "last days" began as recorded in Acts 2. This
present dispensation (period of time) has continued until the present and
will continue until Jesus returns an the judgment occurs. This is not to
say that the gifts are continuing - Paul makes it clear in I Cor. 10 that
they were temporary.
Well weve covered alot. Im glad youve been this patient There are a number of things I didnt have the time to preach on, but hopefully my point has been made. I put alot of work in this. It is now obvious that tongues speaking today is not of God. What may be more interesting about tongue speaking today is why some are doing it. Remember if the issue of tongue speaking comes up with a brother or sister in Christ, be very careful not to offend. Speak your peace, but do it with kindness and consideration. The best way to share your beliefs with a tongue speaker about tongue speaking is to make the issue a learning experience for the both of you. Share what you have found in scriputer and then dont forget to spend time listening.

When Gods word shows us that tongues have ceased, and Gods word shows us that tongue speaking today doesnt meet up to his tongue speaking standards as set for the 1st century church, it would make one think why the obvious isnt being considered. Be cautious of tongue speakers and the churches they go to. God says in 2 John 1:11 that those who fellowship with false teachers are partakers of their evil deeds. Tongue speaking is a serious business that should be treated seriously. The minute you try to add to the Bible, a vision, dream, prophecy, word of knoweledge etc, and one person adds this, and another one adds that, and someone else adds something else, and then attempt to interpret the Bible in the light of all this new information, you end up with a gospel that will take you almost anywhere. This is exactly what is happening today. The false gospels are going off in all directions.
The true Gospel, the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, is circumscribed by the Bible alone. Only in the Bible, the whole Bible.

an addition... Some Charismatic churches teach that speaking in tongues is evidence of salvation and recieving the Holy Spirit. If thats the case , lets hope their women dont recieve the Holy Ghost during church service because in 1Cor:14:34 God says... Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. This verse is in the MIDDLE of Gods laws on tongue speaking. If Charismatics dont obey this rule for tongue speaking, than they either need to keep their women quiet in church throughout the whole service, OR keep them quiet during their synthetic tongue speaking sessions and give up the theory that ALL speak in tongues when recieving the Holy Ghost.
Serious business now, this rule is applied to women speaking in tongues during assembly which in turn leaves the idea that those who recieve the "Pentacostals Second Baptism in the Holy Ghost" void of vailidity.
