“On Friday, Gov. Mike Parson rescinded the COVID-19 related state of emergency that was put in place on March 13, 2020.

Parson, a Republican, said in a statement that the changes acknowledge the progress the state has made when it comes to the pandemic.

Meanwhile… In addition to the rising number of COVID cases, health care workers blame the severity of the illnesses, staffing shortages and the refusal of so many to get vaccinated for the challenges hospitals are now facing. Kansas City-area hospitals have had to transfer patients, both with and without COVID-19, as far away as Chicago and Oklahoma City.” WBIW News St Louis

“KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Poison control calls are up in Kansas City and it’s because people are ingesting a drug meant for horses. Ivermectin is a drug primarily used for de-worming animals. However, now people are taking it as a possibly dangerous home remedy for COVID-19. The Food and Drug Administration is telling people not to take it, and there is no validity to claims across the internet by self-proclaimed health experts. Stephen Thornton (the medical director of the Poison Control Center for the University of Kansas Health System) said it’s not clear why people are using a horse de-wormer. Thornton said ivermectin affects humans bodies much differently than it affects animals.” FOX News.

“GOP Texas Rep. Louie Gohmert Draws Applause for Praising Ivermectin as COVID Treatment. He also raised some concerns about COVID vaccines. ‘The trouble is, these vaccines, they were only approved for emergency use. Now you have Pfizer that's been approved, but there's so much long term they don't know,’ Gohmert added. ‘now that the pandemic is under more control, we need to get back to our freedom.’

At the same time, the Food and Drug Administration has said ivermectin should not be used to treat or prevent COVID-19, and that it has received "multiple reports of patients who have required medical support and been hospitalized after self-medicating with ivermectin intended for horses." Newsweek

Duh? It seems as if some Americans prefer to self-medicate with a useless & potentially dangerous cow and horse dewormer rather than to take a proven, FDA approved (for humans) vaccination that can help avoid severe illness from COVID. Something is very wrong in this logic. Politics seem to be winning over science. As a result, the losers are the American people..

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment advises unvaccinated Kansans to quarantine after attending Chiefs game at Arrowhead in Kansas City, Missouri last night. Arrowhead Stadium was open to a full crowd for a home game for the first time since the team raised a Super Bowl LIV banner. No masks were required while outdoors. While Friday marked the first at-home Chiefs game since the new round of COVID-19, Arrowhead has already played host for an earlier mass gathering. Country music star Garth Brooks played a sold out show this month— an event with an estimated attendance of nearly 75,000.” Kansas City Star

If you think unvaccinated people will willingly "quarantine" for 10 days after the football game, you are an idealist and not in touch with reality.

"KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A lack of cooperation is making it difficult for the Kansas City, Missouri, Health Department to determine whether there were cases of COVID-19 transmission at the Garth Brooks concert on Aug. 7 at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. The city said its disease investigators have been hampered by unreturned phone calls and people who refuse to answer questions from contact tracers." KSHB News

“KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Intensive care units are full across the Kansas City area, creating challenges for hospitals battling to keep up with the high number of COVID-19 patients.

The Kansas City Star reported that the most ICU beds In the region since the onset of the pandemic; and that number has grown almost every day since. As of Wednesday, 224 people were hospitalized in ICUs, according to hospital data tracked by the Mid-America Regional Council, a regional planning agency. The data includes hospitals in Jackson and Clay counties in Missouri. Kansas City isn’t unique in Missouri. Data posted Friday on the state’s COVID-19 dashboard showed 690 ICU patients across the state among 2,395 people hospitalized with COVID-19.”

I don't think the end is in sight yet, unfortunately.

As always, instead of uniting in the face of danger, men tear each other apart...

No, it won't end. I think we're on a path of self-destruction.
