In the News 7-08-21

“ Today, the Missouri State governor signed a law stating that businesses, health care providers, and religious organizations will also be shielded from COVID-19 exposure lawsuits. The new law exempts business owners and health care providers from being sued for spreading COVID-19. This protects nursing homes that do not put in safety measures for those in their care. It also takes away business incentives to protect their employees and customers from the virus.”

"Missouri Gov. Mike Parson says federal COVID-19 vaccination effort unwelcome in Missouri."

"The rising numbers of COVID-19 cases in Missouri have the attention of the White House, specifically comments from Gov. Mike Parson. Parson has clashed with the White House on the best way to keep people safe. KMBC's Micheal Mahoney reported that Parson said he does not believe that trying to scare people — those are Parson's words — into getting a shot will work in Missouri. Parson said. 'There's going to be people out there that's not going to take the vaccine.'"

“Missouri Gov. Mike Parson doubled down on opposition to federal COVID-19 vaccine outreach efforts. Missouri Gov. Mike Parson said he doesn't want government employees going door-to-door in his state to urge people to get vaccinated, even as a COVID-19 outbreak overwhelms some hospitals. Missouri asked for help last week from nearly formed federal “surge response” teams as it combats an influx of cases that public health officials are blaming on fast-spreading delta variant and deep-seated concerns about the vaccine.”

“The Delta variant of the virus is believed responsible for much of the spread in Missouri, especially in the southwestern and northern parts of the state. Officials also cite low vaccination rates, especially in rural areas. That same variant has been found in Kansas City-area wastewater treatment facilities, meaning it's beginning to take hold in the metro.”

“The overall seven-day positivity rate for the state climbed to 12.1%, according to the MDHSS – a growth of a full percentage point in 24 hours. That number is the highest it has been since Jan. 13, 2021. That number has climbed more than eight percentage points since June.”

“Missouri now leads the nation in the most new COVID-19 cases per capita in the last two weeks.”

“Missouri continues to be the hotspot in the country for new COVID-19 infections. Health experts say it’s due to the Delta variant and low vaccination numbers in the state. Hospitals in the southern part of the state, particularly the Springfield area, are bursting at the seams because of a new surge of COVID patients. Kansas City hospitals are helping with the overflow.”

“New study names Missouri least safe state during COVID-19 pandemic. The findings published July 8th ranked Missouri the 50th state in positive testing rate and death rate. The study also ranked the state 48th in hospitalization rate, 44th in transmission rate and 40th in vaccination rate.”

“New data analysis identifies clusters of unvaccinated people — including Missouri — vulnerable to surges in COVID-19 cases and could become breeding grounds for even more deadly COVID-19 variants.”

70% of the population, where we live, are unvaccinated and are refusing to be vaccinated...

So sad that there is still so much reluctance to do the right thing and get vacinated.

Irrationality is alive and well in Missouri. The irrational people may not be so lucky.
