November 28, 2019

Hope this finds all enjoying today and a meal with family and/or friends.

The subject of the reunion venue location in LV has been recently brought up by the reunion committee.
One thought has been to keep it within the area where it has been all these past years which would be the downtown area.
Another thought would be to do it differently this time and have it at another area other than downtown LV.
The Strip comes to mind although most venues there would likely be fairly more expensive.
The areas outside of downtown and The Strip also were being considered.
These would be something like Sunset Station, Red Rock, Green Valley, South Point, Sam's Town, etc.
Those would be more attractively priced than The Strip but likely a bit more than downtown.
Transportation would also be a concern for anything outside of downtown if the majority were to have accommodations there.
But it was mentioned that a chartered bus could be arranged much like the side excursions taken during past LV reunions.

To assist the reunion committee with the choice of venue, it was suggested to do a survey of the classmates for their opinion.
The survey on the website below is volunteered and hosted through my account.

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScFyXMqCTGDC48itTQg0IJMFFmCWKQYcFKPLxKwMnv4m2KbTQ/viewform?vc=0&c=0&w=1

Note that this survey will be done anonymously and we won't know who will be taking part in the survey.
As such it's been requested that you take part in the survey only once to ensure it is as accurate as possible.
At the same time we would like as many as possible take part in the survey to ensure it represents the opinion of the majority.
Remember, the majority opinion will likely determine the choice of venue for the reunion committee.
So also remember, as they say in Hawaii, ' No vote... No grumble '. Mahalo !

Good to hear from you Tremaine and great to hear you're enjoying the blog and life.

Aloha,
Hal

Thanks for the info/update Gerri.
That's a long time to wait to say a final goodbye to an old friend and classmate.
Sad that he didn't make it to his 77th birthday on this coming Christmas Day.
I've remembered his birth date and thought it was awesome since our elementary days.

Good to hear on Sam's whereabouts Pearl, as we've been concerned on not hearing from or about him in quite a while.
Hopefully he'll have a bit of recovery from his situation.
Anyone wishing to get in touch with Sam Pang please contact Pearl or myself.
Will pass on the necessary contact info.

Thanked Cliff Ching on his understanding of the recent erroneous posting.
He was also referencing the first erroneous news at our 20th reunion nearly 40 years ago.
Back then at the end of the reunion banquet in Honolulu, classmates formed a circle in remembrance of those who had passed on.
Someone blurted out that they had seen an obit for a Clifford Ching in the news.
Of course, months later, we found out - from Clifford Young no less - that Cliff Ching sure seemed alive.
This time around while on a trip, I heard in the 3rd person, or more likely the 4th, news of Cliff Ching's supposed passing.
Shows how easily things get lost or crossed up in transition.

Nuk, other than a possible service in Utah and the Honolulu one mentioned by Gerri, I have no info on anything else.
Will pass on whatever info I receive.

You all may (or may not) notice that I've composed this blog in a larger font than usual as requested by some classmates.
If this then becomes a problem in any way let me know.
If not, no need to respond and I'll leave the font size as it is now.

Aloha,
Hal

He has been living there since his stroke and would welcome classmate visits, calls if in the area.
We need to travel from Honolulu to visit him so it isn't very often.

Pearl, if possible, please email messages for Sam and I or my son will relay to him.
If you have mail for him, it may be best to send it to the Valencia Commons address.
He still has his home and P.O. box but mail is not picked up often.

If you have any questions, requests please freely email, text or call me.

Best wishes for a very successful class reunion!

Hal,
This is the second time I have been erroneous declared deceased.
Hope you don't get it right in the near future.
I don't open my email on the Saturday the 26, so didn't get that notice.
Raynor emailed Kim saying he was sorry and what happen.
She said Clifford was alive and well, maybe it was some hacking or Halloween prank.
I am very sad about the passing of Slug, he was one of my best friends.
I spoke to him after he had his stoke and followed him during recovery and rehab.
Then he moved to upper Utah to be with their 2 daughters and grandkids.
One day he said it was 14 degrees and I said too cold, move to S. Cal or back to Hawaii.
I only have his cell # and they are not answering it.
If anyone have Dee's #, I would like to have it.
