The punk heron

OK, this may seem a bit silly, but I had never really looked at the back of a heron’s head, and when I did, it reminded me of a punk hairdo. I thought it was pretty cute.

*****

It snowed a little on Tuesday, but we are in for Arctic temperatures over the next few days. The lake was half frozen when we took these pictures on Sunday, and I suspect it will be entirely iced over by Thursday, meaning the heron and other birds won’t have any access to food. I hate to say it, but I think he’ll be gone the next time we check in on him. Tim didn’t see any birds in the gardens last night, only the geese flying away.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly unsharp.

Great shot - punk hair do et al :) I really like the soft colours and the elegant lines of the heron ! BV

Yeah, but it would be more effective if it went pink. Great capture (and observation), Helen. V
