In my world there is little better than a bit of stained glass. We inherited two stunning stained glass windows when we moved here and when the main building works are over we’re going to add some of our own… Well, that is “our own” in as much as we own it, but it’s quite definitely not our own work – that accolade goes to Gorgeous Gail Davison, who made us two panels for our wedding, intending at the time that they’d go into the front door of our house in Minions but they never made it into the door as we decided shortly after we got married to move back up country so they’ve been stashed away carefully since then so that they can be made into panels in brand new internal doors for this house.

Anyway, I’d been feeling a tad guilty about not taking a pic for several days and was actually on my way to bed when I spotted this shot. This is a Gladys window, in other words, it’s been here since 1952 when the house was built. It’s in a solid oak door made in an arts and crafts style. This area is famous for its arts and crafts things. It was made probably beyond the end of the official movement but it’s no less beautiful for being a latecomer.
