Pimp & Prostitute Party; FSU

(all fours; to the prayer room to "pray to the gods" as the freshmen say)

What started out as a common fun theme in the 1970's, took a turn for the worse in the '80's with FSU taking issue with such parties on school grounds. The "theme" is a culmination of particularly illegal & immoral activity spanning the decades; reaching back into the tempestuous 1950's. The gatherings were quickly moved off-campus, and the tempo of the "parties" quickly intensified into something more than just a theme party. By the late '80's many of the parties were off-campus "invitationals" with a marked demographic change... those merely into "vanilla" theme parties were no longer invited, and the unspoken "pay-to-play" was adopted to further screen out students who were likely to balk at the main activities of the evening. By the stroke of midnight, girls who had not passed the "touch-test" (he slightest recoil meant you would not be staying for the real party) were respectfully driven home. Those who stayed were obviously up for whatever became of the evening; and so it went for years... Eventually a faculty member or two... or three... would answer an invite and stay the course, and that's when it all got very, very interesting... careers and marriages became but chips on the table. Thin, thick, hairy, shaven, married, single, black, white, vanilla, french, or greek; The promise of secrecy in the air became especially thick and potentially (allegedly) deadly for those who had loose tongues, speaking out-of-bounds...

Soon after, members of the "community" (society) were too invited, and the distinct taboo and experimental culture that was the keystone, found another home in the Deep South; bringing people of different ethnic and social backgrounds together on common ground. A highly secretive social gathering that still exists today, which continues to form a secretive bond between more than a few of the Greeks. Due to the modern-day social climate and access to the internet, there's been a resurgence of decades old taboos, although the visual impact and the very act today, is nowhere near as socially inflammatory, criminal or dangerous for the participants. While such parties were likely to become popular, even if only in theme, non can match the exuberant well-heeled private gatherings of the non sanctioned nature that will likely persist in perpetuity...

Eat. Drink. Laugh. Play. Sodom and Gomorrah...

The photographers and caterers have gotten much older, but the game is the same.
