M6 and M7 Region Near The Milky Way Center

Anza, CA

This 10 degree wide view of the Milky Way is centered on star clusters M7 and M6.

M6 "The Butterfly Cluster" is above right of center.
M7 "Ptolemy's Cluster" is below left of center.

The bright star in the upper left corner is Alnasi, aka Gamma Sagittarii.

Above right of Alnasi a small yellow smudge is globular cluster NGC6522 is visible. This marks the region known as Baade's Window, a region of low dust used by astronomers to peer into the core of the Milky Way.

The red nebula above the lower right corner is NGC6357, aka The War and Peace Nebula.
Partially visible in the far right corner are two pads of The Cat's Paw Nebula.
