I took many pictures at a part of the wall and a ramp leading into the former city.
A notice explained: The ramp. The ramp has been partly restored and dates from the Troia II citadel. Troia II was built on top of the remains of Troia 1a-1e, and had eight building phases, 2a-2h. During this period the citadel was enlarged several times. The ramp leads up to the wall of the final phase, which had a substructure of limestone with layers of mudbrick on top. It was c. 330 m. long, 4 m. thick and enclosed an area of 8800 square meters. The ramp we see led up to Gate FM and was paved with flat stones and flanked by mudbrick walls. The main entrance to the citadel was probably another gate, FO. There also a stone ramp (unexcavated) was probably in place to overcome the difference in altitude between the approach road and the settlement. Schliemann found a treasure to the left of Gate FM, and Troia II was covered by a two meters thick layer due to fire, this led Schliemann to conclude Troia II was the Homeric Troia/Ilios. He was 1200 years off. In 1890, the year he died, he realized his mistake.
