This silk farm is part of the Artisans d'Angkor silk weaving project. Artisans d'Angkor is a cooperative helping to revive the artisan's skills of the Angkoran era. Silk weaving in Cambodia dates back to the 13th century and was strongly influenced by the "Silk Road" in South Asia. Silk weaving became an exclusive vocation for the women of rural villages. The workers here are taught the traditional Khmer silk weaving technique of "Ikat" used to produce one of the most famous Cambodian fabrics known as “Hol Lboeuk.”
