Over 300 years ago Jean-Jacques Rousseau was born in Geneva and his memory is celebrated there as one of its most famous sons. In the middle of the Rhone there is an island, now called Rousseau Island, where the writer and philosopher loved to sit. This statue on the island commemorates him.
