Hairy Woodpecker work

Hairy Woodpeckers are adept at flaking the bark off rough-barked trees such as ash, elm, ironwood, etc. They are, of course, looking for insects. You might notice this work on trees throughout the region, particularly trees that are dying. The FWG Wordpress text blog, has a short article about this topic.
