James Hawkins is the former superintendent of Ypsilanti Public Schools and Benton Harbor schools
in Michigan. He is on the board of directors of the Student Advocacy Center of Michigan and this was
a shot from a series of portraits I took for the group. It was a reunion of sorts for Jim and me. We go way
back. He was the school chief in Benton Harbor when I was a rookie reporter covering the district.
