The NYC Government and NYU Plan calls for the extension of this children's playground from West 3rd Street to Bleecker Street on LaGuardia Place for the construction of boomerang skyscraper buildings on Mercer Street and LaGuardia Place that will destroy the existing safe off Mercer Street children's playground, called the key park. These public park strips, the Washington Square Village Sasaki Garden and more than 200 mature trees that cleanse NYC air of carbon pollutants will be destroyed by this plan. One wonders what kind of 'world class' city government & prestigious institution of 'higher education' would subject small children to 'playing' conditions like this when a much superior playground is destroyed?
Legal proceedings are pending to stop the NYU and the current NYC Government from executing this ill conceived plan.
