F-4E 67-381

Rheine-Hopsten

F-4E Phantom II's were retired from USAF frontline service by the mid-1980's and replaced by F-16's. However, AFRES and ANG- units still were using these beautiful birds, as is demonstrated by this F-4E-36-MC 67-0381/SL (c/n 3277) of 110TFS MO ANG, pictured landing at a rainy Rheine-Hopsten during a deployment in June 1988. Note the AIM-9L Sidewinder, the extended nosewheel and the impressive sharkmouth. This lizard Phantom was retired in 1991 and went to the Hellenic air force for a long, second life. Last flight was made in 2007. It was noted a few times parked at Andravida since, but it's not certain if this old bird still is with us.
