A Different Look
Weekly Challenge #82: Portrait

Challenge Theme: Portrait - Show us a portrait of yourself, someone near and dear to you, a friend, an acquaintance, a candid image, of your pet, or someone else's pet, etc.

Had to take a second look when I drove by this goat. Usually a Nubian goat (this particular breed) has long floppy ears and for some reason they were cropped short, giving it a 'distinctive' look for sure.

Ok, guess I learned something today...better get my facts straight before I post my images. This is a special breed of goat and following is the information I found on it.

Lamancha goats are perhaps the most distinctive goat breed; easily recognizable by their very short ear pinnae. They are also known for their high milk production, and the comparatively high butterfat content in their milk. The short-eared American Lamanchas first gained recognition as a distinct breed in the early 1950s, and the breed was registered formally on January 27, 1958 as "Lamancha or American Lamancha" goats. Approximately 200 animals were accepted at registration as its original stock.
