The impressive looks of the Avro Shackleton, a distant cousin of the WWII Avro Lancaster, shown by 8 sqdn WL757 during the IAT '89. Like the other AEW.2's the WL757 started its life as a MR.2. "Nothing beats the fading sound of a Shackleton, that means you're not on board" was one of the crew jokes. Work on board wasn't easy because of the limited space for a lot of hours, the incredible noise of the engines and the high temperatures. WL757 is now 'preserved' at Paphos, Cyprus, although not much is done to keep it in a sort of reasonable condition.
