If anyone else has photos of this last reunion, I and the rest of the classmates would appreciate if you
could pass them on via me and possibly the Pbase website... this to ensure that all the classmates
(and others) in attendance are pictured and not missed... luncheon, golf, tours, etc included.

Jean, ditto on the regrets of not having enough time to see and talk to all of the classamtes at the
reunion... but yes, this reunion was near perfect with everything else.
It's funny that being only a couple of days or so away from Hawaii that almost all of us who came over
would still head over to where they served 'local' food... enjoyed the oxtail myself... twice.

Brenda, Pearl confirmed the November 20th service for John but still no other word on time and place.
I'll pass on that info if-when I hear from Pearl or pick it up from the obits.

Lu, if I was the highlight of that Hale Koa luncheon, I shudder to think of how the rest of it went : (
(Louise and I have been emailing each other for around 5 years now but met again for the first time
in well over 50 years)

Bea / Douglas, if you happen to read this (sent only a one-time email to Bea - don't have Doug's email),
it was my pleasure... I and most of the other classmates viewed Douglas as the defining example of
the highest level of an academic in our class.

Hi everybody: It takes a while to get back into the groove after a vacation!!
I keep waiting for housekeeping to clean our bathroom and fix our bed and keep wondering when
we’re going to go to eat at the buffet!
Boyd took two days off and went back to work.
I stayed home for four days just to empty the suitcases, put them in the basement, do the laundry,
put the clothes away, go to the store to fill the fridge with the essentials, get the tub of mail from
the post office, pay the bills, dust the furniture, do some yardwork before everything freezes and
take in some sewing and alterations for Halloween.
I needed a vacation at home to recuperate from all the flying for the Las Vegas vacation.
Those airports are getting to-o big!

Thank you, all, for a very wonderful reunion!!!
Boyd and I really enjoyed seeing all of you.
I wish I had been more nosey and went table to table to see who was sitting at each one.
I thought we would be able to do that after the program but was disappointed when we had to leave
at 3pm.
I was so happy that my cousin, Roy Takamatsu came to introduce his wife to us before they left the
reunion.
Thank you to everyone else who came by to say, “Hello”.
I wondered out loud why the reunion was held so early in the day.
I think it was Gregory Lee’s wife who said that it’s because most of us usually have to take a nap around
3 pm and go to bed around 8 pm.

Thank you, Samuel Pang, for remembering that I came from Lanai in the 2nd grade and getting some
of my K-2 classmates from Lanai to come and see me.
They had celebrated their 50th Reunion the day before in the same place we were using.
I would never have recognized them if you hadn’t brought us together.
I used to go back to Lanai every summer so I did get to see them up until our senior year….still,
that was 50 years ago!

Thanks, Carl, for selling the t-shirts, totebags and aprons for me so that I could visit.
I hope we made a nice donation to the reunion committee.
I also hope that the classmates that got the rest of the items as door prizes are enjoying them.
Was that Alvin Kajioka that I put the apron on and rubbed his tummy?
I hope he’s happy with the apron.
I didn’t mean to embarrass him….yes, I did mean to do that.
Anything for a laugh.

Every thing was just perfect…the location, the food, the craft tables, the entertainment, the classmates
working at the sign up table, the photographs and the whole spirit of the reunion was awesome.

After the reunion, I got to visit with my friend, Velma.
Since she teaches Hawaiian language and crafts to around 500 kids in grades 3 to 5, I told her that my
one regret is that I didn’t learn to make a coconut frond hat before I moved to Alaska.
So she spent around 6 hours after the reunion to teach me how to make a lauhala bracelet, the pocket
protector that you all received as a favor, the rose bookmark, ti leaf rose and lauhala rose instead.
I am grateful that we had time for a nice visit.

I never had enough time to eat oxtail soup!!
I did find the ALOHA SPECIALTIES restaurant and got to eat portuguese sausage, loco moco, saimin
and plate lunch.
I should have had Velma wake me at 4 am when she went down to eat oxtail soup.
That was a nice place to visit with Carole Masuda, Sandra Akiyama, Bob Matsuda and the others who
walked by.

Have to go home now.
The midnight shift is here.
Will write more later.

Oh, my, I am so shocked and sad about the passing of my childhood friend John (Little Man) Gomes.
It hit me hard and brought back so many memories, because his dad, John, Sr., was our landlord on
Keanu Street and we were next door neighbors, growing up together.
My brother Marney and John hung out together.
His dad and my dad were always together, and the years spent in their rental house were good ones.
Earlier we lived "in the lane" and rented from John's uncle Fred Texeira, and life in that section was
pretty dramatic, with Texeira family feuds going on all the time!
So living outside of "the lane" was more peaceful.
John's mom Agnes was a Texeira.
Carol Gouveia and I spoke the other morning when I read this blog and we were both shocked,
as John sat at our table for the reunion dinner and he seemed fine, his usual respectiful quiet self.
Now I am doubly grateful that we had that time together, although it causes it to hurt a bit more.
Wish we had known he faced a health challenge...would have said more to him and thanked him for
his sweet friendship and also tell him how much I appreciated his kind mom and dad during some
tough times with my mom's health.
Wish also that his wife Diane had attended, as he seemed to want to have her there that evening.....
seemed a bit lost without her.
Nonetheless I am so grateful that she let us know, and hope that she gives service information to Pearl
also, as I do not read the newspapers.
Carol, Raynette Raynor and I will attend for sure.

Hi there June,

I tried sending you an email, however, the email address that was on your business card failed to
go through.

Ray sends you his warmest mahalo.....

Both Ray and I really enjoyed our mini rendezvous at the Hale Koa.
Hopefully, we will be able to get together in the near future.
Great company and food.
Thank you Carole for your thoughtfulness in arranging this event.
The highlight was the surprise visit from Hal.....finally got to see and talk with him in person.
(Have only been contacting each other through the email).

Thank you, June, for thinking of us in regards to our absence at the reunions.
So far, our schedule with Ray's lawyer's conferences (which are scheduled about 2 to 3 times a year)
and our personal travels have coincided with all the reunion events.
Hopefully, we will be available for the 70th reunion.

Just before this last reunion, I saw Vivian Hirahara at the Trade Show.
It is always a joy to see her.
At the time, I explained to her why we could not attend, but, the KHS blog and photos have enabled me
to enjoy and capture the fun times, memories, meetings, hard work, talent, info, stories, etc. of all my
wonderful classmates.
Thank you Hal and to all who have contributed to making the KHS blog such an awesome tool to keep
us all bonded.

Ahui hou, malama pono.

Warmest aloha,
Lu

Hi Bea,

I was a classmate with Douglas in Intermediate and High School.
Thought he may be interested in this latest edition of the email info-blog sent out occasionally
since he is mentioned a couple of times and there are links to pictures o the California mini
reunion and also of many of our past reunions.

Thanks June, I did receive those photos and will be posting what I can on the Pbase website... and yes,
I did miss taking individual shots of almost all of those in your photos, including myself... Mahalo !

That is really sad news Pearl... I remember seeing John for the first time in 50 years at that meeting, yet
recognizing the big guy almost instantly... mentioned that to him and he gave me that typical big, shy
smile of his.

Great Seda, thanks for the photos and report... I'll also get whatever of those photos on the Pbase website
that I'm able to... sounds-looks like everyone had a good, cozy mini-reunion.

Charlene, Bobby, thanks again for the confirmation on Sharlene (Bobby left me a message informing me
of Sharlene's unfortunate passing)... although I had already caught a glimpse of that article online
while in LV, I wanted to wait until getting back to Honolulu to be sure it was her... I know Bobby also
attended the service for Michael Yamaguchi's wife Pat... that's Bobby, always thinking of others.

Passing your message on to Gerri via this email blog, Lu... now if only I was there... along with George...
and my camera.

To all classmates who were at the LV reunion and to those couldn’t make it …

It was really wonderful seeing everyone in Las Vegas!
There were some classmates there that I haven’t seen for 50 years … Pat Yamaguchi, Jean Nakamura,
Sharon LaTraille, to name a few.
And Jean, I loved your muumuu!
I really missed those classmates who were not able to make it … Bing, Dellie, Louise, Chester, Jane …
hope to get together with you all soon.

To Richard Carvalho, hope you have recovered!

Thank you so much to all the members of the reunion committee who put this together.
You did a great job as usual.
We enjoyed all the activities … golf, putt putt golf, Jersey Boys, shopping … it was so much fun!
And we loved the entertainment!

Hal, I will send photos of some of the persons you missed, the putt putt golfers, and one with you in it.
Because you always take the pictures you’re never in any of them.
My photos are nowhere near as good as yours or Chester’s or Roy’s but at least you can see the faces.

Louise, congratulations to Ray!
What an honor and I am certain it was well deserved.

Looking forward to the next reunion in two years and maybe a few mini ones in between.

Have sad news.
Received a call from John Gomes wife Diane on Saturday.
He passed away on 10/19/10 and the funeral will be on 11/20/10.
A notice will be coming out in the paper.
He had been ill for a while but you would have never know it.
I expressed our condolences to her.

She thought we should know how happy he was to see his classmates and what a fun time he had.
He talked about helping us stuff envelopes and enjoying our company at one of our meetings.
He also spoke of enjoying the Pearl Country Club reunion.

From what I remember he was a shy and quiet guy in school.

Hi, Everyone, here are my photos from our LA get together at Clifford Ching's beach house in Oxnard.
It was a typical Hawaii feast, lots and lots of food.
There were 15 people in attendance.
The weather was a little spotty with clouds, rain and sunshine.
Great to see everyone and truly appreciated them making the trip to our gathering.
The last few who stayed later went for a walk on the beach in front of Clifford's house.

Her daughter was touched that he came, especially since he had known her since kindergarten at

They both attended Star of the Sea from K-8, then both went to Kaimuki from 8-12.

Aloha Gerri,

Warmest mahalo for remembering Ray and all the kind words about him.
The law firm, at that time, had about 100 attorneys and about 200 + employees.
Thus, it is unfortunate that I didn't realize your sister was Ingledew's secretary......wish I got to meet her.
I recall Ray mentioning that on numerous occasions employees and younger attorneys in the firm
introduced themselves and told Ray that they work for him.
It was impossible to know everyone in the law firm of that size.

It was wonderful getting together with you many years ago.
I remember your great sense of humor.
One of the places that we had lunch was at the Honolulu Club.
I think you invited me for lunch at the hotel that you worked at and we saw the actor George Hamilton
go by and you told me to close my mouth when I saw him.
Soooo hilarious!

Do take care, best regards to Jack and thanks again.

October 24, 2010

Thanks Clarence... have been hoping to see some pics-reports on the Cal mini-reunion that I could post
on the email blog and the Pbase website.

Gerri, I did find out at one of the reunions that Franklin and Gordon are cousins... and yes, I admit also
that before I started going to the reunions I'd confuse the names of the two at times.

Roger, originally blogs (web logs) were done by amateur journalists... so 'professional blogger' is quite
an appropriate description... I couldn't be more of a professional amateur if I tried.
Now 'professional photographer is another matter entirely... unlike Roy, I've never displayed or sold any
of my 'creations' at an art gallery or similar... not even at a sidewalk corner (psst, you like buy pikcha),
And no, the day job is not in any jeopardy... you'll notice, by the 'Sent:' time, that all the blogging and
emails are done at night... well, early, early morning... during whatevah spare time.

Below is my reply to Paul and Muriel and also a reply to Gerri on the email and links downloading
problem that seems to come up once in a while... hope this helps anyone else having the same
problem or running into it in the future.

Paul, Muriel,

Yes there is a site... actually it's the same one where all the rest of the past reunion pictures
are located... go to the 'home page' on the Pbase website :

http://www.pbase.com/halinhi/khs60lv02

There you'll find the link to the 10/10/10 reunion luncheon pictures among the rest of the links.

A few email blog recipients have been having a problem opening some of the links in some of
past email posts... it could be a software or ISP glitch... but try this direct link anyway :

http://www.pbase.com/halinhi/khs60lv1010

Otherwise, the alternative is to go to the 'home page' as noted above... should both links above
not work, try the link to the 'home page' on some of the older email blog posts I sent out.
As a last resort, you can copy the link and paste it into your browser-search engine of choice
and pick it up from there.
If you're not sure how that can be done... no laugh, a lot of (senior) people dunno how... here's
a step by step below :

bring the cursor to one end of the link... (snipped for brevity)

Hopefully you won't have to go through all of the above.
Let me know if there are further problems.

Harold

some kind of software or ISP glitch... or sun - moon alignment.
Let me know if the problem occurs again... will resend... no problem.

An aside chuckle... for myself I suppose... a sudden remembrance came to me some time after posting
the latest email blog below... the person who came up to me 'out of the blue' while we were at the

Well, I prefer Lu to Lou, myself... and yes, Ray does present himself as quite a 'formidable' person on
first impression ( I was tempted to turn to you and say 'your witness' after being questioned by him at
our introduction at the Hale Koa ) but the 'warmness' did come through as I talked to him.

Thanks Arline... if it's OK with you, when-if I can, will try to post a couple of those on the Pbase website.

Elsie, there's a side benefit to ID'g the photos... I get to recognize faces and names a whole lot better !
As to the layout of the picture, I'd have to agree yet understand and empathize with the photographer
having to make do with the situation, staging area, crowd and time alloted.
I was once asked (out of the blue) to do a class group shot... 2002 at the Fremont if I recall... but, w/o the
benefit of preparation for proper equipment (good camera, flash units, etc.) and poor ambient lighting,
I wouldn't have paid even a dollar for the 'photo' that fiasco produced... also, of course, I am not a
'real' photographer as I consider Roy to be.

Sorry about that Muriel... apparently a software glitch that rendered all the links on the page 'unclickable'.
Should be OK now : http://www.pbase.com/halinhi/khs60lv1010
As always, should this occur again, you can alternatively go to the 'home page' on the Pbase website and
look for all the links there ( http://www.pbase.com/halinhi/khs60lv02 )

Thanks Pearl, caught that when proofing-editing email postings as I always do... of course, I totally forgot
to correct that when finally putting together all the posts into the one email blog... is this what you old
folk refer to as 'those senior moments' ?

Hi Bing,

Warmest mahalo for your very kind words regarding Ray.
Ray is really flattered that you think he is such a nice guy.....the boy friends of both my daughters use to be
so scared of him.
Last month, I found out at Ray's 70th birthday surprise party which the law firm set up.........
that lot of the young lawyers were afraid to work under him.
Soooo funny!
He's really a softie with my daughters and me ( and especially kind to elderly women ).
Must admit when I first read Hal's comments to "Lu" in our KHS blog,
I presumed it must be another "Lu"
I only realized that I'm the "Lu" Hal was referring to after reading your email about Ray.
Needless to say, I was very surprised.

Bing.....we still talk about the snow pea leaves and found them in Toronto, Canada early this month.
Loved your unforgettable and ono feast you made for us at your home.
Also, we found out that Ray's secretary knows our classmate Pamela Machida who resides in Canada now.

Hal and Reunion Committee:
As always, a great job by everyone on planning and programming of this 50th celebration.
Hal, thank you again for this posting of numbering and names of the class photo….great job!
BTW, I must comment that this class photo was the worst set up by the photographers.
Because we were spaced so widely, almost need a magnifying glass to make out our classmates.
They could have made more rows which would have enabled them to zoom in more.
Also, lettering of the KHS Reunion labeling could have been made smaller to give more space for photo.
Been wondering all these years, why the class photos and candids were being out-sourced, rather than
having someone within our class taking these photos?
We have professionals like Hal and Roy Okano, who could very easily take on this project and the monies
paid to them rather than to outside photographers.
Just a suggestion and maybe they have been asked and declined?

Sorry so late in reading my emails.
But, felt compelled to respond to Hal’s blog over the now 200+ emails that have gone unread.
Will get to them soon, but always try to read Hal’s emails first.

wicked slot machine session one-handed ( one-armed ? ).

Echoing Gerri... any request/desire for get-togethers, etc., please drop an email line and I'll forward it to the
appropriate party... this email info-blog is totally dependent on your inputs as a lifeline... it really does ( and
will ) flourish or wither with-without them.

Good heads-up Bing... would have missed that if you hadn't done so.
Lu, I'm guessing... judging from the short time-opportunity I had to meet-talk to him... Ray is the type who will
deflect high praise, which is what Bing's email reads to be... impressive indeed.
Quick note: to allay any perception of endorsement I've not posted the firm's name and will do the same for
( most ) any other that I believe will also be viewed as such ( I may slip from time to time ).

Finally, as some of you have already noticed and viewed, I've posted most of my pictures of the Las Vegas
reunion on the Pbase website.
I did, regrettably, manage to miss photographing a lot of classmates who were there... hopefully you're in one
of the crowd shots if you were one of them... one who comes to mind that I missed entirely is Gregory Lee.
Anyway, below is the link to whatever I was able to take shots of :

Thanks for your kudos.
It was a challenge for my wonderful committee & I and the outcome was worthwhile.
I'm glad you both had a good time.
It was fun to reminisce with everyone.
Your idea of an other island reunion sounds good, will put it in the suggestion box.
I like it.

Dear PEARL,

ALOHA and hope you’re well rested now and all going well..

EVELYN (even with broken wrist and all) and I really enjoyed the reunion luncheon
with all the class mates and friends, thanks to you, committee members and others
involved performing all the hard work towards ensuring a successful event.

I’m sure all who attended will agree, this re-union event was one of the best yet and
we look forward to the next re-union, even if its just to get off the island. By then,
EVELYN’s broken wrist should be well healed and she can spend more time playing
the slot machines.

Again, many thanks and till next time…

Dear precious classmates and friends, always so delightful to have had the treasured opportunity to see
and reacquaint ourselves with old friends after all these years.
Much gratitude to the hardworking volunteer reunion committee.
Can hardly believe that 50 years have come and gone, at this rich old age hopefully we will be able to
somehow have impromptu gatherings for all those who are able to in Honolulu, Calif, Las Vegas or
whereever as often as possible even on short notice.
It was incredible to see Doug Okada, Ron Lee, Alvin Kajioka, Sharon Latraille, Pat Yamaguchi, Jean Nakamura,
Sonny Tambunting, June Yanazawa,Velma Kekipi, Elsie Awa, Ken Harada, Pauline Kekahuna, Mike Tang,
Arlene Yamagata to name just a few whom I can recall and wish we had more time to chat longer.
Loved the Hawaiian show, craft fair and seeing Mel Cabang, was amazed at Franklin Tam's Lapahoehoe hula.
And also thanks to dear Harold Oshiro and his faithful and professional blog site.
Again, if any of our classmates will be visiting or want to get together, please just email a note to Harold's blog,
we would love to see one and all.
Warm blessings to all, Keep well and have a wonderful Thanksgiving and Holiday Season ahead.

In case anyone missed it, Louise Lung’s husband, Ray Iwamoto, has just been named the top lawyer in Hawaii
by the Honolulu Magazine.
The number two is Derek Kobayashi, who is married to my favorite niece, Aiko.
Derek works for the same law firm as Ray.

Ray is pretty impressive.
He is a Mckinley High grad and a former U.S. Army Captain, Medical Service Corps, a Viet Nam war veteran and
a former State Judge Advocate General for the Hawaii Army National Guard.
Ray is an attorney with a firm that is a Member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers.

Best of all, he is a really nice guy.
He and Louise came to dinner when they were in DC last year.
You have a picture of the three of us last Halloween.

Got it Pearl... duly noted and posted.

No problem Francine... as I've mentioned before, no personal, harmful or commercial info will be posted...
but since it appears to be a business number and without a name... more than willing to help.

Agreed Takoosh, it's been a very memorable year of reunions... two of the best I've been to.
There have been quite a few other classmates and friends not mentioned who quietly helped out in seemingly
nondescript yet important ways... too numerous to list now but much appreciated.

Seda, hope all went well with the craft sale for you and Elsie... and yes you're right... lifelong friendships should
be cherished and/or reestablished... before fading memories and time dilute or dissolve them.

After 67, 68 or 69 years, another 2 more years doesn't seem to be much to wait on... but a lot can and will happen
in between... would be great to define and share some of those 'happenings'... more 'get-togethers' perhaps.

Hi Hal,

Great job to all of you who made it possible for the rest of us to enjoy a great " event of a life time ",
both at Pearl Country Club and Las Vegas.
Kudos to the classmates who handle all the other events that took place within the bigger events.
Many thanks to you Pearl for being the person who kept this class reunion thing going on for so long.
The other mahalos go to Barbara for setting up the travel agency, Ron for the golf tournaments,
Richard setting us up to play on that beautiful and challenging golf course.
Also many thanks to Tillie and Richard for the pupu and refreshment outing at the Triple Seven.
Mahalo Paul for doing a bang up job as our MC and of course Mel Cabang for being the everlasting
comedian he always is.
Can't forget you Hal, for those candid pictures you took and posted on your blog and of course to those
who also assisted Pearl on the committee.
Muriel, Carl, Karen, Clinton, Francine, Chester, Frances, Marge, Carole, Gordon, Myron, Roy, Sandy,
Roger, and Lorene.
Mahalo Nui Loa for a job well done.
This will be one of the most memorable class reunions for many of us , because of it being a half a century
since we all graduated from good ole' Kaimuki High School.
I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed it and I hope all of you who did attend enjoyed it just much as I did.
So fellow classmates if everything goes well I hope to see you all in 2 years..

Hal,

I want to extend appreciation to the reunion committee for a job well done.
I really appreciate having the opportunity to show my obi bags.
It is a joy to see everyone, some that I haven't see since high school.
Entertainment was great, Mel is amazingly funny.
We had a lot of fun playing golf with Richard and Tillie, who made the arrangements at the 19th hole get together.
Thank you to them and Ron Higa for all the trouble they went through.
Richard, we enjoyed playing the Palm Valley Golf Course.
Playing it twice helped me redeem myself.
It is alway enjoyable to see our old friends, friendships that will be cherished forever.

October 17, 2010

Arline, wish we had joined you and the others at 'Jersey Boys' but we had another more pressing
engagement calling... no, not gambling.
Everyone who attended and we talked to after that Sunday evening expressed their thorough enjoyment
of 'J-Boys'... likely made more so doing it with fellow classmates.
The '19th Hole' was another we missed because of the crowd and everything else going on... heard about
the great food spread and even better conversation-laughs.
In two years, some of us may not quite be 70 yet (Lynne, Slug ?) others may be a little beyond that... but
no make difference... we all going get together for the friendship.

Agree on the committee Pearl... watched them going all out in planning and implementing.
Yes 2 years sounds like a long time, but the committee will have to start gearing up again before you or
they know it... enjoy the break.

Will be posting the LV reunion pics shortly on the Pbase website... whatever I have at the moment and
adding on more as time and schedule permit.

Hal, Pearl, Muriel & committee members;
What a fun time had by all.
So much thought & effort put forth by you all; MUCH APPRECIATED.
The luncheon and entertainment was spectacular.
Golfing was great and saved us some moola.........
Of course, some were really thinking that it was taking away from their earnings
(winnings at the table or on the machines).
Truly enjoyed the "Jersey Boys".
Brought back soooooo many good memories.
Geez, even Bobby Masuda was ready to rock out and I could hear a bunch singing along.
Great time.
The "19th hole", handled by Richard & Tillie Seichi, was very enjoyable and the pupus were great.
Good to see the non-golfers join in on the chatter.
Hope to see you'all in two (2) years (we all make the big 70).

GREAT JOB, HAL.
What would we do without Hal's blog giving us the latest scoops.

The reunion committee and I would like to acknowledge everyone who participated in our events
throughout the year.
It really is the classmates that participated that make these events a success.
Their generous donations enable us to keep everyone up to date on what's going on and help with
expenses needed to put on these events.

2010 was the most challenging year.
Putting 2 reunions and all the events together, not to mention cookbook and other fund raisers kept
us very busy.
The outcome was fantastic and worthwhile.
Hey, keeping the classmates happy is the main thing and I'm sure we did that.

We even heard some classmates ask when the next reunion will be.
We need a well deserved break - but we know the next 2 years will be here in no time.

More so, for the illustrious committee members that have been working with me over the years.
KUDOS TO ALL.
GREAT JOB GANG.

First a note on the sad passing of another classmate :

"SHARLENE “SKOSHI” SMYTHE 67, passed away Sept 4th 2010 after a 10 year battle with breast cancer.
Born and raised in Honolulu, a 1960 graduate of Kaimuki High School."

http://obits.staradvertiser.com/2010/10/13/sharlene-skoshi-smythe/

Following are a few notes on the Las Vegas 50th reunion luncheon that randomly come to mind :

There was an initial pre-luncheon headcount of 117 attendees according to Pearl.
A couple of classmates were unable to attend at the last minute.
That left a total of about 115 attendees, around 80 of those being classmates... the committee will
correct me if that's a little off... not a bad showing after 50 years.

Quite a few classmates were there who hadn't been to any of the last few reunions.
Offhand from memory: Jean Nakamura, Gregory Lee, Elsie Awa, Pauline Kekahuna, Sharon
LaTraille, Kenneth Harada and probably a bunch of others I haven't listed... or missed.

Seating was random... not assigned... making for a good mix.

We were entertained by Gordon Tam, Carolyn Amoy Overholtzer and company, Tremaine Lui
Dybal and Ralph Hind, and of course Mel Cabang along with Paul Texeira.

Dozens of door prizes donated by our classmates... will list those generous people when I'm able
to find out who they all were... or probably they'll be listed in the next newsletter... regardless,
much mahalo to those great classmates.
In addition, numerous cash prizes were awarded along with a grand prize of $200.

Took a few shots of the reunion and classmates... will post those on the Pbase website when I'm
able to find the time to upload them.

Have heard, so far, only positive comments on this reunion while talking to many of the classmates
who were there... great and fun time.

Will also post more notes and memories of that LV reunion in the email blog as I, and hopefully
other classmates, come up with them as we gradually return to our homes and routines.

Hey Slug, I know all of us will really miss you and Dee... you've been a part of our reunions for so long.
But as Pearl mentioned, family first... congrats and best wishes to the bride and groom.

Paul, by late evening 12PM I hope Sonny means before the reunion luncheon date : )
That's a very generous offer from him and Terri... and yes, I've heard the shopping is very good there...
he may have to place a time limit on visits/stays.

Unless an announcement or something else of importance comes up, the next email info-blog won't be
posted until possibly from LV... I know most of us will be busy with preparations for the trip or have
already departed... then of course there will be those lucky ones who will just drive in that morning.
Really looking forward to this reunion as I hope all of you are.

Well, today is the big mini-me 50th reunion day for the Cal Crowd... should be quite a bash... the rest of us will
be waiting to hear how it went when that Cal Crowd comes to LV.

OK Pearl... will post it pretty much as is w/o the personal-sensitive info of the individuals as usual... save for
Kaydi... judging from her email, will assume she'll be OK with it, and anyway, also as usual, won't be posting
any of that type of info on the Pbase website.

Mike, don't really know who will be attending... you'll have to check with Pearl or one of the others for that.
As for the number, Pearl mentioned at one of the last meetings that, so far, 100 + ( 115 ? )will be there.
That, I assume, accounts for guests as well as classmates.
Know you couldn't make it to the Honolulu reunion, so great that you'll be in LV.

Jean, guess your email answers June.
Hope your trip timing goes OK.

Great words Becky... though I didn't know her that well, agree totally on how nice Loretta was.
Speaking of which... though I didn't know you at all, I remember you distinctly from Kaimuki Intermediate.
Since I didn't know you, or maybe because I didn't know you, my most vivid memory of you was your nice,
shiny, long black hair that seemed to be perpetually in a ponytail... eh, I'm a visual kind of guy with only
dim, distant memories of these mental images formed 50 - 55 years ago.

Mahalo for the offer Gerri and Jack... may join you at the Nugget if I don't do a show or whatevah.
Yes you're right... dass one of da rules... no posting of really personal/sensitive info (phone, address, email, etc)
unless explicitly requested and/or deemed harmless (to the owner)... your whole life story in detail OK though.

On that note, any suggestions from all of you as to a good informal meeting-gathering spot for the other days and
times when there are no official or unofficial meetings-gatherings.
We have the luncheon of course and Gerri's/Jack's offer... some will be going to the nightspot shows... others to
shopping and golfing... and of course gambling.
The slot tournament will likely have quite a few classmates there for the expected 7 and 7:30 PM rounds... perhaps
meeting just before the tournament (nice large area adjacent to mingle) and then cheering on the participants.
Anything/anywhere else ?

June, I've forwarded your email request to Jean and Carl Yasuda... hope it all works out for you.
See you and everyone else at the Main Street Station Social Club.

Hal

use the house ph. to call us.
Many will attend shows in the evening, no problem leave when you wish.
Bring your own beverage, etc or nothing. It just will be nice to sit and see one another until the next time we party,
no formalities here.
Also, Jack and I will be on the strip from Thursday (arr Wed.night) at the Palazzo until Sun. so if you are on the strip,
give a call anytime, maybe we can "connect impromptu style" no shame here, have coffee, breakfast, lunch, drinks,
dinner, whatever (Palazzo suites are large).
Also, give us heads up if you can do this.
Call my cell (but Harold does not allow this, one of DA RULES), play this by ear.

I bought one at the last reunion and I love it!
I will pick them up at the reunion, or they can be shipped to me after the reunion, which ever is more convenient.

Looking forward to seeing everyone in Las Vegas …

Jean, I can't wait !
As for the orders for Jean, note that she mentioned 10/1 as the deadline for ordering... I'm sure that still will be cutting
it really close for her, so order right away if you need anything.

No problem Tom... hope to see you in LV.

Ruth, hopefully you were able to contact Jean and Carl directly and work out your order.

Gerri, I too remember seeing Loretta at the Sheraton reunion... but I must confess I didn't recognize that it was her
until after the reunion and looking over the pictures I had taken.
She looked the same yet so different... remembered her way back then as that big tita who was always smiling and
friendly to me though we really didn't know each other that well... wished that I could have told her that at the
reunion... really nice gal.
