Jean, I can't wait !
As for the orders for Jean, note that she mentioned 10/1 as the deadline for ordering... I'm sure that still will be cutting
it really close for her, so order right away if you need anything.

No problem Tom... hope to see you in LV.

Ruth, hopefully you were able to contact Jean and Carl directly and work out your order.

Gerri, I too remember seeing Loretta at the Sheraton reunion... but I must confess I didn't recognize that it was her
until after the reunion and looking over the pictures I had taken.
She looked the same yet so different... remembered her way back then as that big tita who was always smiling and
friendly to me though we really didn't know each other that well... wished that I could have told her that at the
reunion... really nice gal.

I am sewing myself a green and white check muumuu and having Danielle iron on a logo on the front
and about 12 logos on the bottom ruffle.
I even found my hairpiece to wear on the back of my head so it looks like I have long hair rolled up in curls.
I almost threw the hairpiece away since it's so-o old.
However, I noticed that the hairpiece has more hair than I do on my whole head!!
I even had to have the beautician color my hair the same as the hairpiece when she washed and curled it for me today.
I hope my husband doesn't fall on the floor laughing when he sees me in my 50th Reunion costume.
I think my muumuu style is in the wrong decade but who cares?
Just don't mistake the green and white check on me and think that I'm the buffet table.
I remember wearing a pink and white check skirt with lots of crinolines and a black sweater.
Must have been for our class day celebration.

Hello Ruth,

I'm not sure if Jean has enough time to have your order completed in time for LV.
However, I currently have another large t-shirt on hand that I will be bringing to LV if you are interested.
Anyway, this is just an alternative solution.

Hi Harold!
Sorry to burden you w/ this request; I want to order a Kelly green t=shirt w/logo on front from Jean Nakamura Boyd,
size large (I like it roomy, plus they shrink) but I did not keep the previous contact info.
Want to wear school colors to luncheon as mentioned in one of your halgrams.
You can forward this email as is to her if that's the most expedient.
I'll send her the payment plus shipping and handling cost.
Or, can pick up at reunion,
I'll just wear it right then and there; which ever is easiest for Jean.
Thanks so much for doing this coconut wireless and all the time it must take out of your busy sched; really appreciate it.

Elsie, I may be corrected but my understanding from what I heard at the last committee meeting is
it's an either/or thing... green/gold or pink/black are both OK... and another combination or just
one of those colors will likely get a pass also... maybe a classmate in one color and their S.O. in
the other complementary color... hey, tourists do something similar here in Waikiki... green with
pink may be a combo to pass over though... same for black with gold... well, you know what I
mean... that's for the 'other' school down the street... but ehh, whatevah fuels your fancy and
generates your giddyup will be fine with your classmates.

Hi Moana, glad to see you're receiving the email blog again.

On a sad note... the passing of a classmate :

Hi, Hal and Pearl:
The latest newsletter indicated to come dressed in school or class colors, etc…….
in conversation with others, question was raised whether it meant “green/gold” or “pink/black”?
I had assumed that it meant green/gold, but Kiki remembered that our class colors were pink/black.
Not a big deal, as many will come wearing whatever they want, but those that want to wear colors
representing their class, which would it be?
Just a point of clarification. (I think that most will assume green/gold….. I had forgotten that we had
separate class colors)
Days are counting down quickly and look forward to seeing everyone.
Thanks, Elsie T

Thursday evening, 9/16, there were just over a dozen volunteer reunion committee members hard at work
assembling and preparing your latest newsletter for mailing... hopefully by this weekend.

In the meantime, thanks to Muriel, posted below is a condensed version of the latest ( 9/16/10 ) newsletter.
As usual, email me should you need any of the contact info not shown below.

Thanks for the program update Muriel... looking good.
With only 15 minutes or so, we have to urge all to be prompt and available at the 11:30 A.M. picture taking.

Shinty, I have to admit I was also wondering for a few minutes when I read Jane's email.
Then I realized she was referring to her area... Huntington Beach... forgot that Raynor lived somewhere in
that area also.
Magoo of course is Calvin Ishizaki... and Hash being Wayne Hayashi... he referred to Robert Mito as Mits...
that was way back then... picked it up from him.

You know, I do remember now the impromptu doowop sessions that would spring up all of a sudden
whenever some of us would gather in Intermediate and High School, and someone would start singing.
Shinty, Magoo, Mits, Hash are some of the guys I think I remember joining in.

Pearl... barring the unforeseen, I should be there also.

Repeating reminder... reunion committee meeting this coming Thursday, 9/16/10 at 6PM - Unity House.
As Pearl has mentioned, this will the last meeting before the October reunion... drop by if you can.

Bing... don't normally post stuff not directly/indirectly related to KHS and our class, but IZ is IZ and we are
all a part of Hawaii... and proud to be.

Jean... I also don't (normally) post attachments such as pictures and slideshows since they'll usually make the email
much too large and thus take a longer time for recipients to download... sooo... I've posted that PPS attachment
on one of my sites for a short while... link below :
https://docs.google.com/present/edit?id=0AfxOzakcmnnQZGZocTg4NmtfNmc1d3E5bmZ2&hl=en&authkey=CNuek1Q
And yes... they have been circulating all over for ages... good memory jog though.

Hi Jane... thanks for the 'no worries'... great to hear Raynor has finally taken the big step... now no more 'excuses'
of being on the other side of the planet and missing the reunions.

And finally, for those who have never been and might be into that type of thing... last chance before the 10/17/10 closing :

I know, I know, it's Paul Texeira with Mel Cabang.
Can't tell who the other guys are.

Good find Elsie... always knew there was something sisters could do.
If you look at the picture in the link below, 2nd from left is another classmate other than Mel.
http://www.pbase.com/image/128201986
Okinawan kid... forgot his name.
The other two, I believe, are from other schools.
Another footnote... they recorded through Bob Bertram of Bertram International... he was the father
of another classmate... Karen Bertram... Robin Luke ('Suzie Darling') also recorded through him.
Now I have to correct you... Darlene Yoshimoto went by the name 'Masako' afterwards, performing
at the Hawaiian Village Hotel, later marrying Las Vegas entrepreneur Herb McDonald.
I remember Darlene from high school when a bunch of us went on group dates... meaning several
couples cruising around, grinding at Alex's or KC or KDI and just talking story... unlike today, where
the kids will IM or tweet each other as they're sitting across from each other.
She may have gone to McKinley but then later, I think, graduating from Roosevelt... may be mistaken
but one of her dates at our group outings was Gary Yamagata from McKinley.
Darlene unfortunately passed away in '98... a victim of a traffic accident in LV.

No problem Tremaine.

Check Mel Calvin & the Kokonuts!
It's MEL CABANG & some Kaimuki boys.

Also, check Tom Moffat's attempt at singing with The Flames.

Thanks Jean, I'll also post the info on the website.
I know what you mean about the calendar... every time I glance at it I realize how close 'around the corner'
really is... even doing this email blog I'll sometimes think the reunion is still quite a ways off.

Thanks Pearl, will get Tremaine back on the recipient list... wondered why the emails were bouncing back
recently... and for those who weren't there to hear Tremaine sing... that is one great voice that she has.

Duly noted and posted Pamela.

Tremaine returned my call - moved to Hilo - and the family at her Waimanalo address didn't forward her mail.
Her new email address is: ****@***.com
Sending her our last bulletin - she plans to attend.
Told her Ralph wants to sing with her - she asked what song but couldn't remember that she sang at the last
reunion with him.
Let me know how it goes.
