I need help getting more orders.
The total is now 4 orders.
If any of you know someone who maybe interested, please convince them on ordering a bezel.
In the mean time, I'm still searching for a better price on them.
BTW, Gerri, after checking with Pearl, you have paid for 1 medallion and 2 patches.
So, payment for 1 medallion is due at the reunion.

Just posting the reminders passed on to me by others, Elsie.

Thanks Pearl... though there isn't much on the bus tour that I haven't seen because of being on the road
a lot, I still would be interested in joining the group just for the fun and company.

Even if you miss the silent auction deadline, as noted by Muriel, pass on the details anyway... the sooner
the better... if you will be bringing a donation on the 17th.

Of course they would have to let me know, so I will know who to wait for.

Yes, classmates are welcome to bring the items with them on April 17th but, they should give us a description
of the item and the market value by March 31st.
They can call, e-mail us or reply on the blog although, we will still gladly accept any items on the 17th even if
they miss the deadline.

It’s a logistics issue, we need to make sure that we have enough tables to display the items and a supply of bid
sheets for the bidding.

As of this date we are not short, have 34 signed & paid and we will have a bigger bus.
Naturally, the more the merrier and we can accommodate more.
I do have 4 more people undecided who I have to call back to see if they are still interested.
Also mail is still coming in.

Repeating for Pearl, anyone else interested in the bus tour: Friday 4/16, meet at Magic Island (Ala Moana Beach Park) tentatively
by the sidewalk adjoining Ala Wai Boat Harbor, 8AM according to the Bulldog Bulletin.

Committee members and anyone else wanting to drop in... next meeting is rescheduled to Tuesday, 4/6 at 6PM, Unity House.

Bing, I gave Pearl your home address... assume it's also your mailing address... the condensed Bulldog Bulletin I've been posting
is essentially the same as the one mailed out, mostly just some contact info for committee members left out for security reasons...
if anyone else is missing that info and needs it, let me know and I'll email it to you.

Sandy, yes, all of the donations, grab-bags, etc are for the PCC event... as far as I know, there are no confirmed and definite details
and plans for the Las Vegas reunion other than the confirmed venue - Main Street Station luncheon and date - 10/10/10... the reunion
committee appears to be concentrating on the Honolulu PCC event.
I don't see a problem with your donation... as long as the successful bidder or lucky recipient of items does not have to literally haul
things away with a trailer... well, maybe not that... I'm guessing almost anything of good value is welcome... will let the committee
confirm this... don't forget the 3/31 deadline for donations.

Thanks Clarence, glad you caught that typo... bus tour is on Friday, April 16

pending more details.
Will contact everyone via email or phone call to confirm if they understand.

Hi Hal,

I have a small hand appliance that my daughter gave me.
I find that it’ll be in the way on my counter so I’d like to donate it.
It’s still new in the box.
You think this would be appropriate for the raffle?

March 29, 2010

Hi Brenda... hope this finds you back in the islands or on your way and recovering well.
I'm sure everyone is glad and relieved for you on the benign outcome.
I passed your questions on to Carl Yasuda - on the T-shirts, and Pearl Mori - on the deposit
and hotel/meals... guessing you already got their reply or will get them on your return.

Dropped in and listened in to the Thursday, 3/25 reunion committee meeting... there were
about a dozen classmates working on the finer details for the Honolulu 4/17 reunion.

I was asked to pass on a few reminders and announcements through the email blog:

The 4/15 bus tour was just a few people short of the 30 needed to secure a large tour bus,
less than 30 means a small (and packed) tour bus... write, call or email if you'd like to
join the tour... the large tour bus holds, I was told, 50+ so there's lots of room for more.

Bring a grab-bag (around $5 value), wrapped to conceal contents... please no perishables
(needing refrigeration, etc), items that are large, bulky, heavy (can be easily carried in
and out), and life's hamajang rejects (if you didn't like it, chances are the next person
won't either).

Silent auction donation items... send in or drop off by 3/31... call, write or email to find out
drop-off location... believe this deadline is to allow the committee time to plan with the
item details - description, approximate retail value, starting bid price, etc... I'll check
with the committee if just the details are OK for now and dropping off later can be done.

Door prize donations are still welcome... there will probably be some kind of raffle type
setup to award the prizes.

Class group picture-taking will need everyone assembled so stragglers need to be straggless
and the unprompt prompt to leave time for other things... like dinner, etc.

Aloha, Hal, et. al.
Mending Brenda here.
Sorry I missed the Kincaid's night, Manny and all.
I am on the mainland following a rather difficult surgery for removal of my thyroid gland,
with the good news that it was B9, thank goodness.
No voice to speak of, but healing nicely.
Shucks, my karaoke night be a bomb.
I look like I had a date with Edward Scissorhands, and I have been out of the loop with this.
I'm wondering what the deadline might be to order t-shirts, etc.?
I will be back on Oahu next week sometime and will get with it then.
All else was ordered previously on the form.

Next question: If one is to fly into Las Vegas on one's own, (2 Hawaiian Air kids)
are you still looking for a deposit of some kind?
How could I book the hotel or meal separately?
I do not need the package and want to participate in the activities, so wondering what I owe
and how to be included.

Also, just being back on line, may I say that the final activities show the hard work of the committee,
Last minute things are being handled so patiently.
What a class!

Gratefully, Brenda

March 25, 2010

Carl, thanks for clearing that up for Sandy.

Sheldon, Pearl's address is noted above under the 'Reminders' section... it's also on the Bulldog Bulletins
mailed out by the reunion committee and occasionally reposted here in condensed form.
Please all, remember that these email messages are not 'official' but merely an info supplement to the
'official' information dispensed by the reunion committee.
The smaller font is used for info from previous email posts to differentiate from the larger font used for the
newer posts and any info deemed 'important' enough to highlight... I do confess that I use a 19" screen
to write this email so the smaller font looks OK to my old eyes... apologies to all if that is difficult to read,
but nonetheless, it is used for old and repeated info from previous posts.

Hope Carl's post had all the info you needed Sandy... if not, and for the rest out there, let me know and I'll
pass on your questions-concerns to Carl or other committee members.

Thanks Jane... anyone wanting to join the Cal gang, I'll pass on your contact info to Jane or pass on her
contact info to you.

Hello Sandy,

Jean would need to know what color sweater you want in men's large.
Since this will be with the patch, the cost is $25 for the sweater.
Jean has stated:
"The zippered t-shirt sweater is $20 and $25 if you want Carl's alumni patch sewn where a corsage
is usually is pinned on the front of a woman's body".
And the 3 cookbooks will be $30. So a total of $55 payable to "KHS Class of 1960" c/o Pearl.

Just to let you know, I did receive your order and had pass it on to Jean.
My Yahoo address had some problems over the weekend.
If you hadn't received her reply, here it is.

"Betty: Sorry to hear about your accident.
We thought you were silent because you were buried under all that snow and tunnelling your way to work
on Obama's budget.
Get well, soon.
Are you still managing to cook for your group get-togethers?

You should move to Alaska.
We have less snow than on the east coast.
Every January, Boyd's sisters in Virginia are buried and freezing in ice storms and we're "suffering" in 30
degree weather.
I guess global warming has its nice side effects.

I'm selling the t-shirt or sweatshirt with zipper in the front and 50th reunion logo on the back for $20, too.
I'm not out to make a profit.
I just want every classmate to wear the logo.
I find that I wear my t-shirt and sweatshirt on a daily basis if I put a zipper down the front and wear them
as cardigans.
If classmates want me to sew Carl's patch on the upper left front of the cardigan, there is an extra $5 charge
for Carl since it's his product that I'm sewing on my product.
However, if you want a zipper and Carl's patch on a t-shirt or sweatshirt and no reunion logo on the back,
then it's also $20."

The colors didn't come out clearly on the web blog.
The totebag you saw as black is hunter green and black.
Elsie Tanaka saw it as navy blue so don't feel color blind.
The kelly green t-shirt came out looking turquoise in the ad.
Talk to you later.
Take care."

Here is my initial reply to you.

"Hi Betty,

Yes, I can help.
I'm sure Jean will be overjoyed with more orders.
I really don't know the cost for the sweaters but I'll forward your request to Jean.
A check would be best made out to "KHS Class of 1960" and sent to Pearl Mori.
I'll be sending this to my other email address where I have Jean's address.
As for the tote bags, there are different color trim (lime green, beige, and dark green), so please choose
the trim of your choice.
Also, could you respond to my other email address that I'm using for craft items.
Thank you."

Can you send me Jean’s e-mail so I can try again?

JNW02 Black Reunion Tote Bags for $30 each
JNW103 Sweatshirt Grey with hood $??
JNW101-Z Zippered Sweater Green $??
Patch 2.5 inches $ 5

How much?
Can I pick these up at the reunion?
Can I pay with a credit card?
Or if by check, where do I send my check and who shall I make it out to?

Hank wants a t-shirt, green, no zipper, size 1XL

March 22, 2010

Clarifying again for Jean:
T-shirts are as shown on the website, but a zippered one is only on request...
the sweatshirts are crewneck and with zipper is also only on request...
hooded sweatshirts are only on special request
(hope I got that all correct and it's now cleared up).

Bing, I remember vaguely reading something about that... thanks for clearing that up for us.

Subject: Pi Day

I just learned the following from one of my interns.
I am passing it on to you so when your grandchildren or grand nieces and nephews talk about “Pi day”,
you’ll have some idea as to what they are talking about.
Annually, math classrooms in the United States and around the world celebrate “Pi day”.
It stands for the mathematical symbol Pi (3.14) + Day, because the digits of March 14th correspond with
the first three digits of (3.14).
Every 3/14 math teachers plan special activities for Pi day.
March 14 is also Albert Einstein’s birthday.
Erik, my intern, baked a French Colonial pie for us to celebrate Pi Day (3/14).
It was a pie filled with a chocolate mousse and flambéed bananas on top.
This is another reason that I do not want to retire.
How else will I be able to keep up with the next generation so easily.

March 19, 2010

Carl, sorry I couldn't make it to Kincaids' with you and the others... sounds like you all had a good time
without me anyway : )

Sorry Jean, but I did remember how well you and Christmas chaos went together : )
I've posted examples of the zippered sweater-T-shirt and hooded sweatshirt :

The T-shirts by the way seem to be of good quality material, much heavier weave than the usual stuff you
see being sold for 3 for $20 or whatever... the zippered style looks more like a light sweater and makes
it look worth more by at least $10 or more than the unzippered.
For further details on the T-shirts - zippered and unzippered, the hooded sweatshirt, and the totebags
contact Carl Yasuda

Bing, you haven't mentioned your misadventure in all of this time... and since Christmas Day even !
You know, you wrote about Louise Lung Iwamoto's high involvement in sports activities... which I can
attest to from her descriptions in emails to me... but you haven't mentioned your own prowess in sports
actiivities: waterskiing, swimming, etc... well, except for maybe your expertise on the jungle gym and

Please don't remind me of Christmas.
I just put most of the decorations away.
The LED flickering candles are still in the windows.
I'm waiting for the batteries to go dead.

The t-shirt and sweatshirt orders are puny...about 10 items.
Danielle ordered her minimum of 150 logos to put on t-shirts, sweatshirts, totebags, BBQ aprons anything else.
I will even put a zipper down the front of a t-shirt or sweatshirt and print the 50th reunion logo on the back
for anyone for no extra charge.
If you want Carl's alumni patch on the upper left front of the item, that would be $5 extra for Carl.
The t-shirts and sweatshirts come in all colors and up to size 5XL.
Ladies, don't you need a lightweight t-shirt sweater or a warmer sweatshirt sweater as a memento of the
50th reunion?
There's still time.

Where in the world is Nuk? Is he all right?

I have been out of commission since 12/25/2009.
I fell down the stairs at my brother-in-law’s house onto his cement patio.
Sprained my left ankle, bruised my left knee, sprained my right knee, and fractured my right ankle.
Healing fine.
Went from wheel chair and full leg cast to crutches and foot boot.
Then to one crutch with foot boot. Expect to be off crutches in 2 or 3 weeks.
Worked from home most of the time because it was budget season.
Luckily they hooked my Dell at home to my office so I could work from home with my team on conference calls.
Missed just 3 days of work.
Now I am crutchless and bootless.
Am in physical therapy.
Doc says I will be walking with my regular gait in 6 to 9 months.

March 17, 2010

Only a month before the PCC reunion banquet... may as well start a count down in the 'Reminders'...
Jean, is this starting to sound like your countdown to Christmas yet ? : )

Thanks Pearl, will add Duane and Patricia to the email blog recipient list.

Got it June, passing your order on to the craft fair people.

Thanks for the mini report, Seda... nice to know you all had a great time... with lobster to boot.
Wondering who else attended... but will wait and see if Jane can pass that along later.

For Sharon and others also wondering about the LV reunion deadline and details... as far as I know,
there are none... deadlines and details that is, and for the moment... except for an air-hotel-meal-
etc. package deposit deadline of March 31 and a balance due deadline of July 21 for Hawaii-based
classmates only.
The only definites I've heard or seen are the date, 10/10/10, and venue, Main Street Hotel and Casino
banquet hall for a luncheon... I've been told these are confirmed as reserved with a deposit.
There'll be a committee meeting on Thursday, 3/25 which I plan to drop by on... I'll confirm the info
above and find out if there are any new details or deadlines.

9 oranges

Cut the oranges in half.

Here's a tasty recipe from Jean Hee's cookbook that I've shared with many friends in Southern Cal.
They love it and great for potlucks!

Subject: Soba Salad

yield: 10-12 servings

1 package buckwheat noodles (****)
1/2 pound ****
1/2 ****
1/2 pound ****
1 package ****
1 ****

Break soba noodles in half before cooking. Cook soba as
directed on package. Drain well. Place soba on large platter
or in 9 x 5x 13 pan. Top with ****, sliced ****,****, ****, and ****
in that order.

1/2 cup ****
1/2 to 1 teaspoon ****
2 teaspoons ****
1/3 cup vinegar
1/2 cup or less ****
1 Tablespoon ****
2 to 3 teaspoons ****

Mix well until **** dissolved. Pour over salad before

VARIATION: Substitute **** with chopped ****.

Note: On one of my trips to Hawaii, my sister-in-law introduced me to this very popular soba salad doing the rounds.
It's a great potluck salad.
The dressing is especially delicious!

Manny, that's more incentive to get over to Kincaid's - to see the 'W.H.' weapon... and I think you had
the 16th in mind, not the 15th ?
You're right about the weekdays... this last tsunami commotion was on a Saturday... even without any
damaging event, the shutdown and gridlock on a weekday would have been really bad... as you've
said many times, being informed and preparation go a long way in easing that.

Thanks Carl... haven't seen Clifton since, I think, the Rainbow Teahouse reunion... that 'missing' list

I will bring it with me to Kincaid's.
Hope every one will like it.

Bing, my Karma and Brenda had nothing to do with this tsunami.
I hope we all learned something from last week's event.
We were real lucky not to have a repeat of the 1960 tsunami from Chile.
This event happened in shallow water and further inland from the subduction zone plates so there was
not much water above it to be pushed upward, to cause a large tsunami.
If the event happened in the subduction zone area, it would have been 1960 all over again.
Now we should all know what to do next time.
If the next one comes from the Aleutian, we will have only 4 hrs before the first wave.
You can imagine if it was during a school day.
Well hope to see all of you on the 15th.
Stay and think young Manny

Hey Bing, we here felt the same way with the snow onslaught hitting your area... although, as my daughter

The 2010 earthquake in Chile and the resulting tsunami – Hank and I spent all of Saturday watching the news
on these events.
We heard the first news on these at 11 AM eastern standard time on February 27th.
We watched all day until about 9 PM eastern standard time after the all clear.
Of course, we did laundry, cooked, and cleaned in-between watching the news all day.
We worried about all of you in Hawaii and California.

Hilo Bay.
We watched waves that crossed each other.
Very strange.
We saw waves near the bridge on Kam highway.
It is usually really calm there.
We saw the waters in the bay turn color as the tsunami churned the sea bottom.
We surfed the Pacific Tsunami Museum website on our Dell notebook.

We were so relieved that the waves were half the size predicted and the tsunami passed.

Good Karma from Manny and Brenda probably helped.

Aloha, Manny here.
Yolinda, sorry to hear about James.
I remember him well.
It saddens me to hear that one of our classmates is no longer here.
My memory of most of you is of young classmates so full of life.
Can't think of anyone getting old or not here.
It's not a good day when I hear that one of my memories are gone.
Yolinda, he will be in my prayers.
Brenda, I'm finished with the weapon, call me.
Stay and think young, Manny

The first 50th reunion... less than seven weeks from now... thought we started talking about having a 50th
only a few months ago... time is flying.

Yolinda (Lulu), yes we do remember James... he is listed on the 'Gone But Not Forgotten' page of the Pbase
website... hopefully you can convince Pauline to attend the reunion... maybe Pearl will be able to mail
some info out to her.

Yep, you're right Vern, those kneecap hits can be murder... looking forward to seeing you and the Frau.

Robert... surprises ?
Now you have the (former) songleaders wondering.

Thank you, I will be attending our 50th class reunion in Las Vegas!
I have recognized some of the classmates names.
I have not come across any of our lost classmates in the past.
Only that my sister-in-law Pauline Kekahuna Souza is here in Las Vegas and hoping she will go with me
to the class reunion in Las Vegas.
I'm not sure if you have heard of James Kekahuna my ex-husband have passed away last year day before
my 67th birthday.
He will be missed!
Thank you and ALOHA from my heart!!

Hal, Pearl - Takusan Mahalo.
Hal, I always pay the "Vig".
Those bullets in the knee caps, I found, can really ruin a persons day.

I am so looking forward to our reunion!
Thanks to all who are working hard for us.
I was on Oahu in January and on Maui in February and loved every minute of my time "home".
The Reunion will hold surprises so keep tuned!

OK Pearl, posted meeting date and time under 'Reminders'.
I'm sure Vern will appreciate your quick response... now to see if he'll remember our late fee-commission
kickback... : )

Howzit Robert... you may not remember me but I remember hanging out / talking story a few times
with you in school... thanks Gary, for giving him the heads-up.

Condensed form of latest KHS BULLDOG BULLETIN (February 25, 2010) is attached in a text file (Notepad).

P.S. If the links on this page are now working for you... it was a formatting issue in Outlook Express.
