Five minutes walk from the Grote Markt in the heart of Brussels, you will find MIM, the Musical Instrument Museum. The museum owns one of the most interesting displays of musical instruments in the world. The MIM collection began in 1877. The present building was opened in 2000, it is huge and more than 1,500 instruments are exhibited. Visitors to the museum are equipped with infrared-controlled headphones. Standing beside an instrument, you hear music played by the instrument on the headphones. The music is usually in the traditional style of this instrument, so for example, will play a Finnish Kantele traditional Finnish music.
