Siberian Aberdeen

Aberdeen, Scotland

The coldest day of the year hitting -10oC overnight and the most snow fall
I can recall in many a year. Couldn’t venture very far with the roads in chaos!

The white colour of the Harbour Mastyers House didn’t look out of place in the
Siberian landscape of Aberdeen. I wanted to get a picture today to depict just how
COLD it was. I used a very long shutter speed to make the sea look like a frozen
lake by using a 10 stop Neutral Density filter. With the sun setting to the west
there was the slightest hint of a pink hue. Hope it is warm where you are!
A shot taken last December of the from roughly the same area

A very unusual sight on the beach groynes with the snow falling so fast
the salt water and air could not melt it quick enough.

Nice shot! It's hard for me to imagine this sort of cold. All our days are over 30 degrees C now, and it will soon be hotter I'm sure. I like the bottom one at the beach with the snow on the wooden structures. Nice shots.

The long exposure works very well here along with the strong composition....I think you succeeded in getting your message across!!

Positively balmy here, only minus 4! Love that hint of pink in the sky it adds a lot to the cold look.
