Weather - sunny and mid to high 70’s (24/25C) with nice breeze in places



We took it easy today and puttered around until about noon. Rae is still working on the web sites and blog (not having good Internet access really was a problem) and me, I spent some time chatting with the people in the park.



We decided to go south today and headed towards Lincoln City. We were been told about lots of wetlands and the possibility of birds just to the south of the town. It took us awhile to find the first area around Devil’s Lake. We visited two state parks on the lake, saw lots of campers…no wildlife. So on south we went to look for the wetlands along the Sieltz River. The area along the north side of the river was lush and the scenery and view of the river was great….only wildlife was a couple of fishing boats full of excited fishermen. South of the river there was a NWR with lots of wetlands, not too many birds but we got to see some new country.



On the way back through Lincoln City we stopped at a local beach and were treated to a view of several surfers ‘doing their thing’ in the waves. The waves weren’t huge, but the surfers looked like they were having a great time. As for us, we’d never had a close up look at surfing and to top it off we got to photograph to our hearts content…lots of fun for everyone!



On the way back home we stopped at the local Safeway to shop for something quick and easy for dinner. This was kind of a rest day, which is a switch for us as we usually shoot till there is no light. The adventure continues…
