This celebration was performed by members of the Nansemond tribe, descendants of Powhatan, the father of Pocohantas.
One person had a Red-Tailed Hawk available for photographs

What a beautiful costume he has. Well, not costume; clothes. Our Mardi Gras Indians do patterns like that to honor the native American Indians who befriended the black people in New Orleans in the late 1700's
