The two official residences of Brigham Young, an early leader of the Mormons. The Beehive got its name because of the Beehive sculpture on top of the house. It dates to 1854, and the Lion House to 1856. They are located one block away from Temple Square and are constructed of adobe and sandstone. Young was a polygamist, and the Beehive House accommodated him and his wives and children.
