Garden Image
Gunnedah, NSW, Australia
When I got my first SLR - a Practica IV - it opened up the world of close-ups
to me. The first subjects, inevitably, were flowers my parent's garden. Making
such images still took some time. I used a extension bellows with a reversed
pre-set lens to get nice and close, from a distance. Of course, the SLR had no meter,
and so the hand-held meter was used, but then allowances were made for
bellows extension, pre-set aperture, and so on. There were times I feared
the flower would close up and die before the shot was made. Not to mention
the 2 week development turn-around timeframe for Kodachromes. I brought
this image into the 'space age' by adding a tweak in PS CS2.
