The moon is nearly fully eclipsed on January 20, 2000 as seen from Whitefish Bay, Wis. The photo ran on the front page of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, and may have been the first eclipse to be recorded by a digital camera for daily newspaper use. I used a Nikon D1 and an eight-inch Newtonian telescope at prime focus to record the image. The bright spots in the dark sky are not hot pixels. They're stars.
