Alice is the star of South Luangwa National Park, one of the most famous and photographed leopards in the world. She is unfazed by the presence of humans, actually using safari vehicles to conceal her approach to prey animals. She has imparted this tolerance to her many offspring, who seem equally approachable. Most of the leopards to be seen in this gallery are descendants of Alice.
But, Alice is 13 years old, and showing signs of impending mortality. All 4 of her canine teeth are broken or missing, her face is covered with ticks, and she is apparently now unable to carry a small prey item up a tree, where it will not be stolen by hyenas.
Like the now deceased "Druid Peak" Yellowstone wolf pack, Alice is an icon of her species, and will soon join them in wildlife legend.
