Monument aux Francais Libres

Île de Sein, Brittany, France

Monument to honor the 'Free French Army' during WWII.
In 1940, before the Germans occupied Sein, all 132 island men sailed to England to join the Free French Army. Of them 32 would not return.
The monument was inaugurated in 1960 by General de Gaulle, president of the French Republic.

The words on the monument are: "Kentoc'h Mervel" (Sooner Death) - "Le soldat qui ne se reconnait pas vaincu a toujours raison".

That monument looks awesome. Where was this picture taken? My grandfather recently passed away, and we've been wanting to erect a monument in his honor. Something like this would be perfect, although something smaller would probably be nice. It would be such an awesome reminder of the great man that he was. http://mauricemoorememorials.com/chicago-monuments.html
