Looks familiar to me also. There were several in the hills above the apartments we lived in, Takada Housing. It was called a "turtle back" tomb. The cross is very new.

This tomb looks just like the one that was at Camp Boone when I was there in 1967 I don't remember a cross on it and the are was more grown up at the time it was just a short distance from the cliffs over looking the sea

I lived there from 1960-1963. I would walk down a dirt road. On the right, there were tombs like this one. On the left, rice paddies. At the end of the dirt road, there was a seawall. When the tide was out, one could see torpedos, etc. from WWII. We lived at Camp Boone for about a year, then moved to Naha. I cannot remember the name of the Okinawan village next to Camp Boone. Can anyone help me? I would like to visit again to see how much it has changed. It really left an impression on my six to eight year old brain.

Where was this tomb?--I was born in Okinawa and lived in Mashinato Heights--there was a tomb that looked exactly like this that we used to play around as kids in the 60"s. I don't remember it being Christian. But it looks awfully familiar.
