We stumbled upon this mural in a Capitol Hill alley. This phrase appears on our license plates and is the rallying cry for DC statehood – we pay taxes like the rest of the country, but because the District of Columbia isn’t a state (but rather a Federal district), we have no congressmen or senators to represent us in Congress.
