Still standing

All I can say is for now. Sadly, I think there will be a lot more trouble in the next two weeks.

*****

We went down to the Capitol today because I wanted a picture of it through the huge fence that's been erected all around it. I did get a few of those on drive-by, but then we decided to park the car and see what was going on there because the road in front of it was literally packed with police officers and vehicles. It turned out that the Capitol Police were there in force to attend the funeral procession of USCP Officer Brian Sicknick, who died of injuries sustained during the seditious attack on the US Capitol on January 6 after he was reportedly hit in the head with a fire extinguisher. His death was a tragedy, and I'm glad we were there to pay our respects as his hearse passed by.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly
unsharp.

A very stressful time, even for your Canadian neighbors. I so hope that this tide can be turned.

I think you are right, the rhetoric coming from Trump and his supporters has not been restrained despite the happenings on Jan. 6th. But I'd like to think the words will prevail. V

I hope this optimistic sentiment will be able to continue to hold true. As I look at your photo, I can see my ancestors & their strong will to serve, protect, & honor a country they have called home for the past 400 years. My heart breaks over the shameful day last week that led up to this.

It would be nice if someone is law enforcement stepped up and told the public what exactly happened. Good documentary shot. V

I hope that sign is indicative of the future and that there will be no more needless violence.

Standing up for our democracy has never been easy and will likely be tested in the days to come.

Still over a week to go! The drums of war are still resonating in the distance ... so sad to see that in a great country,.
