US Capitol, inaccessible

We went down to the Capitol today because I wanted a picture of it through the huge fence that's been erected all around it. I did get a few of those on drive-by, but then we decided to park the car and see what was going on there because the road in front of it was literally packed with police officers and vehicles. It turned out that the Capitol Police were there in force to attend the funeral procession of USCP Officer Brian Sicknick, who died of injuries sustained during the seditious attack on the US Capitol on January 6 after he was reportedly hit in the head with a fire extinguisher. His death was a tragedy, and I'm glad we were there to pay our respects as his hearse passed by.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly
unsharp.

The fence itself is a stark reminder of what has just happened, but the funeral for a police officer who died defending this building against rioters incited by Trump, supposedly President of the US, is terribly sad and his death so unnecessary.

The 6th was stunning and shocking. I'm concerned that there may be more chaos to come.

Unimaginable before last week that a member of the Capital Police Force would die defending the Capital against a mob that was incited by the President of the United States. Counting down the seconds until noon on the 20th.

It is so sad and senseless. People please work together to build a better life and country. V

the fence, the funeral, all fallout from a deranged potus...strong image to symbolize the state of current affairs..
