‘Heading to a protest? Grab what you need’

Residents of East Capitol Street offering protesters refreshments. Another sign says, “For our littlest activists: No job is too big, no pup is too small.”

We were given a bottle of water by a family handing them out, even though we weren’t marching, just following along and taking pictures.

*****

We were heading down East Capitol Street looking for birds and flowers, but what we encountered instead was a protest march from our park to the National Mall. A pastor from another part of the city told us that the march comprised evangelical groups from around the DC-Maryland-Virginia area. We followed along as far as the US Capitol and got some pictures, but didn’t see many birds.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly unsharp.

It is difficult to read the news these days with so much happening. Good to see there is a community spirit still alive and flourishing.

I fully agree with the cause and reasons for the world-wide protests and I wish that mankind would finally get it and come to their senses. However, I'm not optimistic that that will happen anytime soon. Reflecting on history, it seems to me that only mosquitoes are truly non-racist, but even they can be selective by preferring to sting sweet-blooded people.

A fine way for some to support the protesters.
