Enforcing but not practicing social distancing

This was Lincoln Park this evening, usually packed with members of the community, with only a few people in it. Tim said there were seven DC police cars surrounding the park or inside it, as well as National Guardsmen on foot keeping people socially distanced and moving through. Our neighbor, there with his dog, had sat down on a bench and was told by a police officer it was no longer allowed and that he had to get off it.

One of the Metropolitan Police cars in view, along with policemen and guardsmen enforcing but not practicing social distancing.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly unsharp.

In support of those risking their lives to save ours, posted earlier:

It’s sad. We can’t enjoy anything anymore. V

Excellent shot Tim. The authorities seem to forget that they too or especially they should follow the personal distancing. Even your and our politicians, up until a few weeks ago, where still standing closely behind and around our leaders whilst they were making grandiose announcements.

Too bad he can't even sit on a bench by himself. Amusing catch of the cops not practicing social distancing......

So now it is against the law to sit on a park bench?

I wonder if people are allowed to sit on the grass! I do see that the foreground benches are taped off...

Similar situation here with people being ticketed ($800+) for sitting on a bench. This photo is very much a sign of the times. I hope we can look back on this in the near future as being a strange time, but over.

doesn't look so problematic here, apart from the cops setting a poor example....the giant statues are intriguing..
