National holiday in Çeşme

Çeşme is a resort town west of Izmir, on the Aegean Sea. It was obviously a national holiday when we were there as evidenced by all the Turkish flags and portrait of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, founder of the Turkish Republic, hung in the square.

*****

I’ve decided I should get back to this gallery after a break of almost two years. I still have a lot of pictures from our first assignment to Turkey, 1996-2000, before I had a digital camera, although armed with my trusty Sony was easily able to post pictures online in other galleries during our second tour there, from 2003 to 2006 (and beyond due to my working for a newspaper in Istanbul).

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly unsharp.

More than meets the eye, posted earlier:

I agree with joseantonio - a lovely scene with the old walls to frame it.
