‘Dinosaurs take to the air’

“Modern birds are actually dinosaurs. Fossils show their transition from non-flying ancestors to the earliest flyers – one of the best examples of how evolution leads to major adaptive changes.”

The wings on this model were constantly moving. At first I thought I was seeing things!

*****

The “dinosaur exhibit” -- as everybody calls it, although it’s much more than that -- in the newly reopened fossil hall at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History is fascinating.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly unsharp.

Superb image. The model looks like those invented by Leonardo da Vinci as you can see them in le Clos Lucé near Blois (France) where the Artist spent the last year of his life...V.

Adapt or perish. We should take a lesson from the dinosaurs. V
