A more intimate view of the mastodon

Timís take on the American mastodon (see previous picture for another view). I found those tusks particularly intriguing.

The ďdinosaur exhibitĒ -- as everybody calls it, although itís much more than that -- in the newly reopened fossil hall at the Smithsonianís National Museum of Natural History is fascinating. We finally got to see it after waiting six months for the crowds to die down (which they hadnít, really).

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly unsharp.

Love how it's lit. The people in the frame help with the scale.
