American mastodon

The “dinosaur exhibit” -- as everybody calls it, although it’s much more than that -- in the newly reopened fossil hall at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History is fascinating. We finally got to see it after waiting six months for the crowds to die down (which they hadn’t, really).

You can see why this exhibit was difficult to photograph!

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly unsharp.

Persistently gold, posted earlier:

What an amazing animal it must have been then, their struggles to live, must have been constant fights! It's not 'fake news' since their bones are here to tell their story!

a pachyderm powerhouse that must have had a rather large appetite...well done to get a relatively clean shot here..
