Behind the curtain

After taking off from where I was standing, the heron stopped in a different area and posed for a minute. That’s ice about mid-picture, and the red reflections are from stop lights on Constitution Avenue.

*****

It snowed a little on Tuesday, but we are in for Arctic temperatures over the next few days. The lake was half frozen when we took these pictures on Sunday, and I suspect it will be entirely iced over by Thursday, meaning the heron and other birds won’t have any access to food. I hate to say it, but I think he’ll be gone the next time we check in on him. Tim didn’t see any birds in the gardens last night, only the geese flying away.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly unsharp.

I'm impressed that the camera stayed on target with all that busy plant stuff in the way. Nice capture. I like the red reflections, actually. V
PS: I hope you guys and the heron are keeping warm today.
