Spring is a time for eaglets at the arboretum

The National Arboretum is also home to a bald eagle nest high above the grounds in a tulip poplar tree. All cars are barred from a significant portion of the gardens, but visitors on foot are able to access the area close to the tree to view the nest through a telescope.

Two days after I took this picture, the first egg hatched (see below).

Excellent! We have a huge eagle's nest in Eugene also, on the north side of Skinner Butte. It's a good distance from the viewing area though. Neat shot of the eggs!
