Smithsonian Institution, The Castle

The last part of the US Botanic Garden’s Season’s Greenings display featured plant-based D.C. landmarks in the Garden Court. Some of them I had photographed last year but am posting new pictures of them here.

The roof of the Castle (Smithsonian headquarters on the National Mall) is made from sycamore leaves, eucalyptus pods, pine cone scales, fungi, Australian pine fruits, honeysuckle and lotus pods.

Christmas in downtown DC, posted earlier.
